So what do you think

I was testing a new powder for use on the intake and other underhood bare metal parts for my rebuild this winter.

It's called bare metal clear. I dug an old valve cover out of the attic, blasted it clean and then applied this stuff. It's supposed to resist underhood temps without yellowing.

THe pics don't do it justice. It's a nice satin clear, very little gloss, just enough so you know it's coated with no color.

On the rebuild I plan on doing the intake, plenum, accessory drive.

I have the buick motorsports TA valve covers in black krinkle, I was thinking about using a satin black rather than the krinkle and leave the raised ribs and lettering polished.

Looks good. You can still use it over color. And if you use it over straight metal look for stains (water) and such or they will show..

Finally I can answer.

So I developed a procedure working on wheels to get rid of them. For some reason they come out when you outgas. THe valve cover developed a brown stain on the side when it was heated to drive off the oil, After it cools I just put it back in the cabinet for a minor blast to get rid of the ugly.

FOr wheels I mask the polished parts and blast away

A/C vents. Wife repainted the kitchen the metal vents were ugly and scratched from the vacum. A little powder coat and some semi gloss clear to beat down the shine and they're holding up well.

They were a farady cage nightmare though
