While my 285/40x17 BFG KDWs are just fine for day to day, and wet weather, I really need something that grip, when I do a serious launch. While leaving patches is kinda fun, and I can take enough power out to avoid that, I'd like to hear what orthers are running other then the Strip Type Tires. I'd like to have something that does better in wear, and lateral forces. Size wise, BFG has some 315/35x17 T/A KDs, and Gooodyear has the F1 GS D3s, but before shelling out that much money for tires, I'd like to hear what others are doing, or have seen done.

On another note, for those running 18 and 19s, how is the ride?. From the looks of things with that short of side wall, the look like the'd be really stiff as far as ride quality goes. While I have Bilsteins, and firm springs, the ride is still OK, but, I'd not like to go too much firmer.
TIA

Hey Bruce...On the ride issue. To be honest, ever since I put my first set of 17's on a TR I have not liked the ride. Like yours my 86' rides ok with stock springs and Impala SS spindles but I really feel every bump in the road due to less sidewall to absorb the impact. It's a catch 22 thing I guess. I want the looks but have to sacrifice some ride quality. There is no way I would go with a larger wheel in the front. The car just wouldn't be any fun to drive. Especially around here. I would put 15's back on my 86' in a heartbeat but my buddies would hang me : ) HTH

Buicks are supposed to ride like a Buick...Not a Vette  What really irritates me about the rougher ride is more and more little squeaks and rattles appear the more you drive it.

I have 295 35 18's on the rear of my GN and have had best of 1.71 60's and I can usually get 1.8's easy. Tires are Toyo Proxes T1S. I like my car to ride like a vette!
