I don't get it either, it's hard to find GN guys in San Diego. I always hear about the cars, people think it's me, but know one knows where they come from. My girlfriend even chased one to get a hold of one guy, but lost him. As far as the thread, I don't know either.

Another way to look at it, is that we are not snowed in for days at a time. This means we are out and about and not sitting behind the keyboard  :add_schac

You know I was thinking about his too. Maybe we can put together a little event somewhere in this region and get everyone to show up.
Northern Cal or Phoenix? I am throwing the idea out here. Give me some thoughts and I bet we can do it. There really should be another get together for Buicks besides Vegas. I am thinking April or May.
I know of a couple of people who will help with the legwork just need to gauge interest.

Sounds good to me, I can hold about ten 30 packs of beer in my car, tell me where to go. Las Vegas does sound centrally located though, it's far from everywhere. I'd be willing to travel for a party though.

Phoenix would be great, (very close to those of us who deserve a break from having to consider going all the way to CA for alot of events.) If it were this summer, I could guarantee I'd be there. :thrashi:

My only concern with Vegas is that I dont want to take away from the event that is held up there now. It is just now getting to the point where it is a really nice in terms of the people and cars that show up there.
Still thinking.

Several of us showed up at Carlsbad last year, Reggie. Maybe it is time for a Phoenix event. Lot's of Turbo Regals here and I'm sure we could draw some from NV and NM. Speedworld is a great facility. After about May, forget it unless your car runs better at 100 degree ambient temp.

Well then how about April or May 1? I know of at least 3 GNs that will be there from CA. Cant speak for the San Diego contingent but I can stir up the waters and ask them.

the idea of having it in Phx would be awesome like jack said SpeedWorld is a great track and we have a great relationship with them. the other thing we have going for us is lots of weekend cruises and carshows.
maybe we should form a comittee to organize a mini nats.
i can do the leg and get dates prices etc.

Phoenix Area Club Day Sunday Feb. 22
The first club day of the year at Speedworld will be held
Sunday, Feb 22 with gates open at 9:00 AM.
Weather should be great for this outing and a good chance
to get the Buick out for a trip down the track!
As usual, we plan to have a good show of Buicks and our
own lane for time trials, as well as competition if wanted.
It is always a fun event to participate and "play" for a day.
Hope to see many of you there.

GNs must be the most stealthy car on the planet. When I was in Washington, there were many GNs that ran around on a daily basis. In the 4 years that I lived there, I only ever saw 1 on the street. I am not counting ones at the track.
Now that I am in LA, I only see GNs in the shop. Go figure :add_schac
Reggie West
02-17-2004, 12:22 AM
Dathan I know we wont make that. The GN is being put back together right now. If we can get something put together for late April or early May we will be there for sure.
I can stir up enough guys out here to make it a good outing and that will give them time to plan. You know how these old farts are, you gotta plan months in advance so they can store up the energy to make the trip.
I can work on Neil Steward, Jason Hall, Freddie Williams, Morgan, Jeff Rand ( his car is being put together too), Paul, Rick Percy, Gary Wells and Ben Moneyham too.
I can see about Don Wang, Bruce Toelle, John Wilde, maybe even Chris Chow and Lou Czarnota.
As long as no one starts a friggin board war, we should all be able to race and have good time. We can leave the bullshit on the board and put down some time slips at the track.

You guys make a good point about not seeing many cars in the LA area... I moved down to Upland from the High Desert [Victorville] a year or so ago. I usually drive my commuter car though. One day I took my TR out to work, and THAT day a piece of metal came flying over the median concrete barrier on the freeway and put a one-inch gouge to the metal in the middle of my driver's door. I guess I should be thankful it wasn't a few inches higher as it would have come through the open window and hit me, but it sure didn't make me happy.
Couple that with the shitty gas available here [though I found a 76 station with 100 octane for $5.25] and it makes me want to keep the T in the garage hiding under the cover.
I saw a beautiful black T [all badges gone, etc] a few months ago not far from my house and haven't seen it since.

I also have NEVER seen another turbo Buick in the Torrance area.
I've been out here almost a year, and maybe driven the car 12 times, so I'm not so visible either.
Been slow to sort it out as it had been stored mainly for the past 3 years.
BUT I DROVE IT TODAY :arco:
Not perfect, I need to learn how to tune, etc., and it needs to be tuned.
But since I like the weather here, I'm going to make a point to drive it once a week. Fortunately, I don't live so far from work, and the lot is fenced with gate.
On another note, a question I keep asking
How do you guys pass emissions??????

Reaper if the track has something coming up on the dates we were talking about that will work fine too. That way we are not footing the bill for the track but we can go run and have some fun.
I think we can drum up enough people to get 20 or so GNs to show up but there is probably not enough people or money to make it an event.
We are just a drop in the automotive bucket so to speak.

I drive my beast to school and work every day. I've seen about 6 or 7 GNs around San Diego, other than the 20 or so that show up at Pat Fiero's house for his party. You can recognize mine easy, the front clip is primer and the windsheild is cracked. As far as smog, the last time I took it, the guy didn't give two ****s about what I had in it, I just took off the good looking parts and I'll be damned if it didn't pass, with a Kenne Bell chip too!
In CA, smog is designated by zip code, so if you live in the sticks, you don't have to smog it so often, so stringent or sometimes at all. The trick is to get a PO box in the boonies, but they love to fight it. There's a guy in San Diego with an 81 El Camino with a 427 and a 4 speed that's always getting tickets, but he always gets away.

it will most prolly be a sunday event, but their will also be a trophy race the saturday before. so there will be 2 days of racing that weekend, we can also organize a cruise to the local car show. i can reserve a lane for us. i will keep you all posted of this as i know more.
