Looks like my hand when I ripped it open on my shifter. Wrap it up with band-aids and then gauze on top of that. Maybe even gauze it with another finger for stability. Then try not to look at it or think about it for about three days. That should do it. If it isn't sealed up by then, go to the doc. :ditsch:

It'll heal...........I took the end of my right index finger off with a table saw at work a few weeks ago. Been under WAY too much stress........too much of a hurry. Did it to myself. :albert:

If that was my finger I'd have brought out the bottle of thick superglue I use on cuts. It also works great on small cuts and cracked skin like you get in cold weather. Since it was originally designed for medical use, it's non-toxic but there are some new versions out, sold in pharmacies, that are more permeable and allow the skin to breathe a little. Probably the better way to go on a large wound.

I second that stevemon. Super Glue is the greatest. So great even, they used in my wifes head after brain surgury :med: I keep several tubes on hand in the kitchen because someone will always nick themselves or worse.

I say don't change the bandage every 8 hours. Just get it bandaged tight and don't open it for a few days and it should go away. It should stay clean. Out of sight, out of mind.

I can remember when I was a kid we used to have what was called the "Boy Scout method".......spit on it and roll it in the dirt..something about thats how the Indians(Native American) did it.....it must have worked all though I cant think I was stupid enough to have ever done it....when was the last time you saw any 3 fingered Indians.. :puke:

You might consider going to get a tetnus shot. You could end up with a nasty infection.

If you are up to date on your Tetanus (sp) (had one within 7 years) then I wouldn't even think about going to the doc, all he will do is clean it and tell you to keep it bandaged. SuperGlue it (cyanacrolade) and be done with it, it won't bleed anymore after that. I did a 2" cut nearly to the bone and it didn't even leave a scar.
