Sadly, I can't run and get pics right now, but I have a box that sit in that space at the very front of the trunk under the deck, with the ports aimed right up through where the stock speakers were. It sounds really good, but now I have issues with mids missing and my component system just isn't cutting it. (All ALpine system- it *should* be good enough)

I don't have pics ready yet, but I will tell you not to waste your money on those audiobahn's :tantrum2:

If you want best possible sound for the $$ can not beat JL audio. They will kick the sh*t out of those AB's on SPL and SQ

If want to slam on a cheaper budget go with Kicker stuff. I think 2 of there square 12's would be slamming in there :arco:

Two 12 inch Solobarics is way to much for the airspace in the trunk. I have on 10 inch Solobaric in my truck and i would dare you to match it up against two 12s. I think one 12 or 10 inch solobaric or JL. The jls are awesome in there own right but i like kicker and you could mount it in the shelf easier. Just my 2 cents,. Harry

HarryI agree wholheartedly....most people cannot believe that I don't have 12"s in my trunk....just one (properly boxed) ten. Hey, we whoop on V8s with a little six and I know guys who build speakers and, using a special program, figured out how to do the same with a small speaker.....I'll get pics tonight.

Oh the box is the biggest part of the equation when it comes to woofers IMO!

If you were talking to the average Joe, I said you probably right. I had Three 12's that drounded 4 15's

You can not beat a 12 for all around sound quality. The 10's will do the job for most, but not I :arco:

10's just can not reproduce the LOW BASS that 12's can

Alpine will always remain "HIGH END!" Alot SQ competitors still use it.

I would go with two tens over one or two twelves. The two tens will definitely move more air than a single twelve. You will still get the tight sound of a single ten and be able to get the low end of a twelve by using two tens to move the air. To keep the bass even tighter stick with a sealed box, but you will give up two to three decibels over a ported box. If you want some really tight sound go with, I believe it is a fourth-order band pass box. http://www.carstereo.com/Images/SealedBP.gif Basically a sealed box that the driver fires into a ported box. This works great. For two tens build two of these back to back.

With my first GN, and two Regals before that, I had a ported box with two tens mounted right below the package shelf. It worked well with the ports well aligned with the speaker openings. I got the box and drivers for $100, I could not pass it up. This is what happens when college roommates lose their money in a poker game and need to scrape up cash quick.

I agree kinda.... for regular 10s yes but if you where to match a solobaric and 2 12 inch comps the solobaric will out perform it. It just moves more air more air displacement more bass. It also has alot to do with the person installing it. If you just throw it together then it is going to probably suck. If you take your time and do it the right way you can make just about anything sound good.

The three biggest problems I see with most people is not a lack of sufficent componets it poor installation in these 3 areas.
Power wire, Ground, and poor construction of a box!

First, if you do not have enough power going to your amp(s) your subs are useless
Second if the amp(s) is not grounded properly the power does you no good, just creates heat and distortion
Finally you can have the greatest sub ever with a the wrong box and you just as well have a bassoka tube :add_wegbr

All the bandpass stuff is outta style now. Pillow stuffings took the place of that :arco:

For the cost of 2 12W7s, I could do a whole system that'd please most people. They are awesome. I did 2 8W7s in an F150 that hit 143db... JL is great, I also recommend Diamond Audio.... A competitor fave as well. Heck at that price point, nothing sux!

Not sure if you still want pics, but I have 1 8" kicker adn it hits soooooooooooo loud. The box looks big but it has seperaters in the middle so its in realtiy only 1 cubic foot. Let me know if you ahve any questions.
