I'm looking to get rid of my bumper strip and filling the holes before I have my car painted. I wanted to see some pictures to make sure that is what I want to do. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks,
James

James, check out GMHIGHTECHPERFORMANCE.com Look for the 2 TR's under the the featured cars. I'm not sure if they are glass or steel though.
I am doing this to my car right now. I would give you some pictures, but they're not done yet.

I wanted to do the same thing when my car was painted, but I hated to think how much it would cost to properly fill all the holes in the factory steel bumpers so I just put new rubstrips on. I used to have a fiberglass rear bumper but got rid of it. Anyway, the point is in my opinion glass bumpers don't belong on anything besides a trailered racecar.

THanks for the pictures. My friend works at a GM body shop and does good work. I think it'll turn out good. I'm not to worried if I go fiberglass because my last accident completely missed the bumper anyways.

I did this on my GN. There are a LOT of holes to fill... I did the rear bumper first and I fiberglassed the holes; eventually they started to show a year or two later. On the front bumper, I welded all of the holes, which took a while. It came out looking very nice though. You will still have to use filler because the stamping process they use to make the holes leaves low spots around them. I don't think I have any good pics that really show the bumpers. :(

I got my glas front bumper from Southeast Turbo Performance. The quality was excellent. Had it painted and bolted it on.
Looks great. Sorry. No pics. You'll have to take my word.

Did the fiberglass require much prep?

Brian, that makes it real hard for me to turn down. Maybe I'll get my bumper refinished when the car is painted and perhaps add the fiberglass one afterwards. The car is just missing a header panel right now. I actually took it for a ride around the block tonight. I still had some C-16 in the tank and boost was 25lbs. WOW, that new intercooler makes a big difference on my car!!!! Not much lag at all anymore!
Can you tell me more about those bumpers? Does it require much modification to use the lights and such?
