Anyone have a schematic for the radio found in the TTA's? I've looked around and found none. I have a few radio's I recently found and I wanna play! If you have a paper copy you can send it to me and I'll scan it and host it on line for all to enjoy! Post or feel free to e-mail me direct. Thanks!

Do you mean for hooking another radio up? If you are you can buy a plug harness that will plug right up and wire any radio to it. If not let me know exactly what you want. I have two friends that own stereo shops maybe they can help :arco:

I know what you mean SGRIM, but I'm looking for the actual schematic for the radio it's self that you would see in a TTA. Basicly what I want to do is study the security section and see if I can disable it somehow so I can swap around different radio's. They made this radio for other Pontiac's that year but it seems the plug is different for the steering wheel controls. So if I get the schematic I can hack that out of the radio and it will work in any TTA :) Just a little project I thought I'd take on over the winter for those guys who want to keep the stock head unit. Thanks for your input tho!

I got you know. I will ask my buddies, but that is a tough one there bro. There was a head unit one time that was supposed to work with all steering wheel controled vehicles. I will see what I can find out!

Good luck on your mission buddy :arco:

We have a high Mileage TTA you power up the Radio it say loc.when it's power up how do you unlock it. What do you need to do. And are you able to change to a early GM style CD Player. Did all the TTA come with tape player or is the CD Player a option.

I do not think CD was an option then! You can change it to basically what ever you want, if you don't mind losing your wheel controls :tantrum2:

To unlock, if you got it, look in your owners manual there should be a code in there you punch in. If not call local dealer and if they are nice enough they can look it up by VIN. On order cars they claim they can not anymore here. :tantrum2: If you get it WRITE it down, every time you disconnect battery you will have to reenter! Good luck :arco:

Jeff to unlock the radio you need to hold the mute button in (on the steering wheel controls) for a few seconds. That should unlock the radio. Some of the radio's have been known to get stupid or the steering wheel controls go bad. That's why I'm hunting down the schematic for these radios so I can make a hack to get around it for anyone wanting to use the TTA stock radio.

As far as a newer radio for the cars you can put almost any GM radio (1989 and newer till about 2003) in that size in the car. GM only made 2 harness's over the years. The one that is in the GN's and then they changed it to a smaller pin configuration that is in the TTA's and anything newer. Some of the newer GM CD radio's can be locked with a code so you need to make sure the one your getting is unlocked. The newer GM radio's now lock out via the vin number on the car. So you want to stay away from anything too new. Poke around on ebay and you'll find a bunch that will work.

Actually, there is a way to keep the steering wheel controls. It is a module that plugs into the wire from the controls and then emits a IR signal for any stereo that accepts a remote. It is programable so it is basicallt universal. Just make sure you get one for a Ford, it is the digital one if I remember right as opposed to the analog one that nearly every other GM product used.

Yeah I just found out that too. I did not see the last post here. I asked yesterday and there is a module that will work all steering wheel controls on any radio :arco:
