Will there be any. I would like to crack off one in Indy and maybe BG. However I am not putting a full cage in my car and hacking it up to be a race car. Just wondering

I was wondering same thing! If I can go, 20hr drive though  , I would like to do the same. My race car does not fit into any of the classes, at least where I could compete :elefant: . But if I go I would like to be able to run car at INDY :arco:

If you buy a race ticket for car and driver it will cost $30 per day after you register for the event. This will allow you to make as many Time Only runs that you can fit in for a day.

It also allows you to enter a class for Head's Up racing, if you qualify, or race in the bracket classes if you do not.

For a car that runs quicker that allowed with installed safety equipment, you would probably be asked NOT to excede that limit again. The second violation could have you barred for the day or........? :tantrum2:

Okay my car is probably a low 10 with a dream of a 9.9, it has a 8 point cage, 5pt harness, the long wheel studs, fire ex, c-clip elimantors and I got a helmet :elefant: Could I run! No class for me I would get :hanged:

NJTURBO looks like you could make 3 runs anyway :gr_gruffy :gr_gruffy

Travis, we will work on tweeking the time clocks so they light up 11.50 but print out the real thing on the slips. Just don't tell anyone.

This only applies to exhibition runs and the Potato truck Vs. Bamford run

JUST KIDDING!!!! Can this be arranged Nick?

heres a couple things if you want to run faster than 10.99 and less than 135
(but slower than 9.99 ) there are 1/8 mile time cutoffs as well so going down the track and then hitting the brakes at the clock to stay under could still get you tossed or banned .

rollcage (6 point is fine on OE frame car if not modified to cowl or floors otherwise must be a 360* cage), couple other rules on padding but in our cars you generally dont need padding on a 6 or 8 point bar . but you will if its an 8 or 10 point cage.
helmet (snell 95 or better)
fire jacket (SFI/ 3.1 single layer)
5 point harness SFI 3" web with valid date tag on all belts (2years from manufacture tag)
no spec on having an extinqguisher but if you have a fire extinguisher it must be permanent bolted to car (not one of those flip clamp in show jobs)to protect the occupant from it flying around incase of accident
positive axle retention (no 'c' clips) so fords or eliminators
wheel studs must extend past the rim face into the nut atleast the thickness of the stud and be in threads
with auto trans you need a trans blanket SFI/4.1 (or sheild )
rims must have bolt on valve stems
driveshaft loop within 6 inches of ujoint
if you have a trunk mount battery it must have an external switch at the rear that kills all power to motor and it must be either boxed and vented or a sealed firewall installed between trunk and driver compartment , and must be bolted down as per specs in rule book (no J hooks) .

and theres a few other general rules on linelocks and hoses , best way to be sure your good is get a rule book .

once you hit 9s or pass 135 its a whole new set of rules

Good info, and would like to add a couple comments on items we have encountered.

Actually a 5 point roll bar is legal. This means no pass side bar needed.

An often overlooked item is the balancer, a SFI 18.1 spec unit is required at 10.99 and faster.

Hope all the info in both posts help someone as they are building, rather than after the fact when it is more time consuming and expensive.

Nick's right.........after 9.99 & 135 the real fun begins, you get to have a physical, paperwork and a series of license runs, usually two short passes, two half track passes and two in the 9s and you get your competition license, not to mention getting your cage certified by the NHRA which is good for three years.

Nick....

Bring your car as you will not have time to race it. We will crank her up to 30PSI and dump the Trans brake and let er rip  , sorry you know me reckless and unstable and all. Oh well....I will put a number down in my car and let you throw me out, then I will hang in the tower in the ac and be a pest to you the rest of the weekend :add_wegbr
