phoned John's performance last week and ordered a wastegate solenoid. I asked him If he had any left he said yup 26$ plus 7 bucks to ship it.I TOLD him they had been discontinued and are getting hard to find so I'm glad he has them,he was unaware of this . He said he orders them by 50's didn't know any thing about acdelco not making them anymore. Anyways we had a good chat he said your order will be sent out today you will get it tommorow.
I went away on vacation called home 5 days later no solenoid. Phoned John I said I haven't received my solenoid, he said oh ya tried to call ya ( no message) "I can't sell that solenoid too you any more for that price , he said I phoned kirbans and I will match there price of 75$" I was like what are you kidding me? anyways send i was on a cell phone 2000 miles away had no computer around to make more calls.
I received the wastegate solenoid and though some more about that bull**** deal. I called him back I said hey John that sale we did was no right you quoted me 26$ After I informed him they were discontinued he makes a couple calls and wants to raise the price to 75 $ If I never told him they were discontinued he would have had no clue and sold it for 26 $. I told him you should of least sold it to me for 26$ then raised the price. He said " thats not the way it works in the buick world when things get discontinued" I SAID BECAUSE I TOLD YOU THEY WERE DISCONTINUED"
I asked for the 26$ price he said no way "you have the part now you trying to bargan?'" He said send it back I'll refuned your 75$ I wouldn't of minded so much if he quoted me 75 from the beginning. But not that bullsh*t business deal he pulled on me.

I think he gets them from kirban but thats still no excuse! If he was taking a loss at $26 then he should have & raised the price later. Maybe you shouldnt have told him that info until you had it in hand! I have dealt with him & no complaints but I see your point!

I have bought a few items from John and the deals always went smoothly.
If he did in fact quote a price to you then he should have honored it and then raised the price for all subsequent sales. That is how you maintain integrity with your customers - and that is how the company I work for would have handled the situation.

I think I heard somewhere before that the solenoid on the charcoal canister was the same thing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. If it is, you could probably find a handful of them at the junkyard.

I can't believe he said that about the Buick world...what a shame. About two months ago I ordered alot of sensors and what not from them...along with two wastegate solenoids, I thought it was a killer deal and just figured he had some kind of angle or something so I didn't bring up the prices that people like Kirbans is charging for them.

That is a bunch of bullcrap if you ask me.
The only problem i have had with them is when i purchased their upgraded black intercooler hoses, i recieved the new black clamps.
About 6 months later i referred johnsperformance to a customer of mine to purchase the same item, yeah, he didnt recieve the clamps with his order and was really pissed about it.
We called to ask about the clamps, they informed us they dont sell the clamps with the intercooler hoses.WTF???
That was enough to keep me from ever purchasing from him again. Its bullcrap issues like that, kinda makes you feel like they are in business just to sell items, not sell their service and admit when they are wrong.
I deal with mike licht, never had a problem, just wished his site had more turbo buick parts on it.

Hey, you added the 2 3/4 exhaust system lately  Awesome!
Didnt you used to sell mid pipes for 3 inch single shot exhausts, flange to muffler?
You list a muffler, but no system or just the midpipe?
5 bar map sensor? Someone mentioned your new setup has a 5 bar map sensor, do you sell it separate? How much?
I just purchased one of Julios kits, need a new map sensor..but i leave town here in a few days.

If your going to tell the story Mike, it's best to be straight about it.
You never told me the solenoids were discontinued, only that you were having a hard time finding them. Had you known and said they were "discontinued" and not just "getting hard to find" when you first called, there would not have been a reason for me to be confused and look into this further.
You placed your order, I called in to reorder and to find out why you were having a hard time finding them. My Delco distributor told me they were discontinued so I called other sources. I found that Kirban had 5 left at $75.00 and matched his price accordingly, I only had 3 left so what was I suppsed to do?.
From the time of your order till the time I tried calling you back at the number you gave me, not even 2 minutes went by so I could inform you of what's going on and that they have been discontinued and the price change. Had you given me the number were you were at, you would have been informed right away. The delay in getting the info was not my responsibility.
When you did finally call to check status I told you everything up front as straight as I could be and you had "no problem" with it. This is what torques me off about this. I even held the part for you and set it aside till I could talk to you.
I think it's a despicable thing to proceed with ordering the part knowing the price change and knowing full well all the facts up front, then get it, then call me back to barter the price down and if I don't, you'll threaten to bad mouth me all over the Net. As I told you then, if your unhappy about it, send it back for a full refund.
Discontined and rare parts go up in price, it's just a simple fact and practice for a vendor to price these parts what the market will bear.
I surley hope some other vendors chime in on this to enlighten you.
This transaction may have made you unhappy, but had you done business with me before this, you would know I go above and beyond to help and take care of my friends/customers, and know more about me.

I will say that its bad when a deal gets messed up, no matter what the circumstances or the amount! John now has a customer mad at him that is bad mouthing him on every board?? He stands to lose a lot of business if people take your side & think he is out of line. If you really feel you were ripped off, return the part for a Full Refund plus John could cover shipping costs. Also to win you back as a customer, on another purchase he should give you a coupon worth 10% off no matter what the item. He may lose like that, but he will keep his "Good Reputation!"
Maybe you guys can settle this personally instead of dragging each other down for all to see? I would hate to think that because of "$50 & the INTERNET" a Business would take a hit! Doesnt seem fair? He has all to lose & you have nothing to lose? Be gentlemen, pick up the phone & TALK to each other!
I am not sticking up for John (although I have never had a problem doing business with him & will again) but I am Sad that again in this community, people are so eager to jump on someone. If you guys were sitting at the bar having a beer I bet it would be settled without all the name calling that the internet makes So Easy to do! I say this cuz I did it myself to someone & it wasnt right! Internet makes it Too Easy!!
It was settled after we both told each other the "True Circumstances" & thats where it stayed!! I just hope you guys can get this settled cuz we need Good Vendors & Good Members!! Good Luck! :)
Now lets Play Nice!!

You could have sold one of them for the price you'd PREVIOUSLY AGREED TOO!. What is so complicated about keeping your word?. If you wanted to charge $1,000 a piece for the others, that would have been fine, but you changed you mind AFTER agreeing to the terms of the sale. You sold out your word for $50. In some circles people see a man's word as his more valuable assist.
You had your choice of being known for having sold something at a good price, or having this happen. It was your call, and it looks like, at least to me, you made the wrong one.
Thanks, for showing how important customer relations are with you. I truely hope that $50 meant so meant so much to you, that is was worth going back on your word (previously quoted price), in the long term.
BTW, thanks for asking about *what I was suppsed to do?*. Maybe, if you'd asked that first, you would have saved all this negative publicity.

I can say that John has always offered to go out of his way to help me on my purchases. He's offered to open on a weekend, deliver parts personally and generally just go out of his way to make me a happy customer. And I've only bought little parts, nothing major. I agree that if an initial price was given, maybe that price should've been honored, but if John contacted Wheelin and told him the price had changed and Wheelin agreed on the new price, then I'm not sure I have nearly as much of a problem. Prices change, John shot from the hip with a quote and when he was wrong he contacted the buyer to inform of the new price. If Wheelin had a problem with the price that would've been the time to argue over it and not after he agreed on the new price and received the new part. I just want to throw out that a lot of people have delt with John and had no trouble, so I don't think one instance calls for burning him at the stake.

John,
I know you from my TTA days and know you're a helpful guy who contributes an awful lot to the turbo Regal community.
Quoting a price first then changing it after the order was placed isn't something I'd be happy with. I fully understand the updated price was agreed to, but it shouldn't have even gone there in the 1st place. Take the hit on his order, stick to the original oral agreement and your honor is still upheld then explain what happened. You'd come out looking like a real stand-up guy, smelling like a Rose with a very happy customer instead of sour grapes.
My $.02. :soapbox:
