Wow, that's going to be a tight fit, isn't it?? How much room do you have??

I will make it fit some way. I am sure it will be a little tight, but fabbing parts and getting it to fit well is half of the fun.

Hey Bryan C., I think you need to concentrate on getting that nice fast 87 GN back on the track for me, oh yeah, just in case you forgot my 87 is in the picture with that Big Block! :tantrum2: Hint Hint! Unless you are planning on giving me another car with that engine in it remember our Anniv is next week, a nice Turbo TA would be nice for our/my collection
Ps...Dont worry, If you have problems getting the engine to fit, I will make sure I will PERSONALLY help you get that engine to fit ! :as: get the hint?
(Better get MY car done first)-lol J/K

Bryan sound cool . My Dad and i though about these two months ago when he Purchased a 70 Opel GT we where not shure how the Fabbed header where going to fit. I like the idea i will keep check in 400 HP should fill like 800 HP what do these Opel's weight? How much do you think it's going to weight with a 455 in there? What Trans are you going to use? What rearend are you going to use.

I would like to keep the whole thing under 2500#, I am guessing it will probably be closer to 2000#. I do not think this should be a problem. I am hoping to make around 450hp when I am done. With traction, 2500# and 450hp should be around 10.32 @ 132. At 2000# that is 9.58 @142.
The car will be mostly gutted, a couple of seats, a cage, and a drivetrain. The current trans is a TH400, I forget the stall of the converter. The rear is a 3.23 posi from a 77 TA, it will need to be narrowed slightly. This combo lived in a 3800# 77 Regal for 30k miles. With less weight to move I figure it should be fairly reliable.
I am debating on changing to a manual trans, just because I like to shift gears. There is a possibility that a set of aluminum heads and fuel injection may find their way in there as well. Imagine the torque curve on an injected 455.
Currently it has 10.2 CR, Postons GS113 cam, Edelbrock Performer intake, Holley 850 DP, and the heads are home ported. I know there will be a new intake, if not fuel injection, and probably a larger cam before I fire it up.
My first big step is to find an Opel.

Bryan: When I bought the red Opel as a roller the motor that was removed was a 455 BBB. The car was built as a "pro street" car with steel body, all original glass, original doors, and 2X3 mild steel chassis. Rear end is Dana 60. The car weighed about #2,500. It ran 10.00 at all tracks that enforced the rules (no certified cage). At Norwalk it would always run high 9's. It still has stock Opel front steering and disc brakes.
Good luck.

Thanks John. It is good to know that the stock steering and such should not be an issue.

I will post my progress. I am sure it will be slow moving, at least for now. I have to get my 85 GN back together and TSM Girl wants her car ready to go to the track ASAP!.
