Just finished up the shortblock this afternoon and snapped a pic. This is the way we put together a NASTY stock block engine, time will tell.......

Guess you don't believe in the girdle...... If you don't mind Bill I'd like to hear what's your opinion on the girdle..... I mean it seems to be working well for some of the faster guys so why did you choose to not use one?

I will give you my personal opinion, hopefully not starting a war! The girdle obviously works, I dont like them because:
-They leak
-You cannot remove the pan with the engine in the car without EXTREME difficulty
-In a vain attempt to seal it, silicone is globbed on the mating surfaces with potential for oil pump ingestion
-I personally think the caps are stronger, I have never had a problem with them and dont see the need to change......

Mr. Anderson can I install caps while the engine remains in the car?

I'm not Billy...but no, heck no! :marchmell

The caps absolutely require fitting and a line bore/hone. A few people have done the girdles with the motor installed but that's a gamble, IMO.

Wow Cunninghams...very nice... I have not been able to get the converter in . Miscalculated some projects, now the car is going to the body shop for some minor cosmetics. Ill be putting it in right after that.
