Just wanting to know if anyone on here is from that area. I will be PCS'ing (transfering) to Hanscom AFB in a year. What is the Boston area like? Any tracks there? How about cost of living? I heard it is pretty high. Gonna suck if I can't afford a place w/ a garage. Got a TTA and very nice Turbo T and soon a Syclone (after I get back :thrashi: ). Any info would be greatly appreciated! I am really looking forward to going there and my new job!
TIA,

Sure! Here is Clay Marlow's site. I bought the car off of him awhile back.

It is also in the turbobuick.com calender. I got the most votes! The mods I have are:
LT1 MAF and Translator
Dutt. Neck
3" ATR DP
36 lb/hr Inj.
Adj. FPR (Bosch)
K&N Filter
Orange Stripe 2800 stall
RJC PP
100# valve springs
Boxed lower control arms
Air bags
Everthing else is stock. That is it. She has more in her though. Well that is what I think. I launched the car at 2#'s of boost w/ 23psi on the run when I ran the 12.4 @ 110. That was w/ street slicks (M&H 305/45/16). Next time I run her, I am going to launch w/ more boost and lock the converter up. With the miles on the car and what little done to her, I think she runs awesome! I wish I could upload a file but I can't get it to work. I have some other pics of the car too.

Depends where you look to live. I pass HSB everyday coming and going to work. I work in Waltham, MA, live in Derry, NH. 44 mile commute. Cost of living is high, yea. Houses aren't cheap, although compared to CA they are, but to FL, not so. Dont know if you're looking to rent or buy. Look for about $250k for an average starter type house right about now. There's a local mortgage company that runs a for sale by owner website that is really good and has a ton of listings on it. Just to get an idea of what towns cost what, give it a look. www.isoldmyhouse.com

Yea, it ain't cheap. 250k is for something that's decent, move in condition. If you want a fixer upper ,you can save 25k...lol You won't find anything under 200 unless you want to live in Roxbury. Which you dont :)

Okay, I just looked up the new BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing) for Hanscom AFB. This year, for E-5 rank in the Air Force, they get $1325 a month for BAH. Back in 2000, the BAH rate was $754 a month for E-5 rank. Now that is all on top of my regular pay and plus my BAS (Basic Allownace for Subsidaries). That is for food and toiletry items and such. It looks like they keep up w/ the times pretty good. Now I would imagine that next year, it will be higher for that particular rank whcih I will be. What could I get for something like that? My super. told me he lived in Nashua and he took the back roads to the base instead of rt. 3.

Yea, Nashua is not all that far. 1300 bux is nice. You should be able to get a decent place for that if you're renting. You could get a townhouse w/a garage or whatever for that ballpark. If you wanna buy something, you could too, but you'll have to kick in some.
For dragstrips, there's really only one. In Epping. From HSB, you're looking at about ah hrs ride w/normal traffic.

Cool. I was getting worried there for a bit. I should have looked awhile back for the rates. You know, I shouldn't worry about it now anyways since I won't be there for a year. I just can't help it! :add_twink
