At 9.99, you must have an approved roll cage....

If you look at page 212 in the 2004 NHRA rule book it shows an OEM frame roll gage for slower than 8.50.

I have a 6 point that is NHRA certified for as fast as 8.50. In 2004 they changed the e/t limit from 7.50 to 8.50.

You can always check with your division tech office to make sure.

That info referring to 8.50 et and slower is the lower end of the requirement, NOT the upper, or starting point. Page 25 clearly states the "upper end" of the bracket. The upper end is 10.00 [9.99 for reference]. This for cars w/ unaltered floors. Alter the floors and the cage point becomes 10.99. Don't forget the 135 mph requirement ...

The rollbar deal is 10.99 down to 10.00.[9.99 for reference]

I've never seen a 6 pt certified to 8.50 et... :fragez:
Neal, is that 1/8th mile??? :zahn:
Page 24 also states that cars w/ t-tops require the rollbar at 11.00 [10.99] Seems they got the rules changed B4 printing!! Remember that :deal: ??

Like Neal, my 6-pt roll cage (six frame attachment points, halo, with OEM firewall/floor) was good to 7.50 until this year; now apparently it's 8.50. I'm cool with that. You never know, they could have really mucked things up for people by making it 9.00.

The differences between a "roll cage" and a "roll bar" should be pointed out..
There can be 6 points on either, depending on the car construction. The confusion comes when not everyone understands that the "cage" includes the roof halo. The "roll bar" does not, and can actually have only 5 attachment points, and still be legal. Some folks do it, but, IMO, it looks uglier than Fido's a$$. :add_wegbr

Exactimundo on all "points" especially the widespread bar vs. cage "misunderstanding." :banghead:

No Chuck it's a 6 point cage certified for 7.50 or was until the 2004 rule change. Now it's certified for 8.50 in the 1/4.
