I've been read something about cutting off the compressor housings outlet and welding on an 84-85s proper length and then reclocking the turbo and you should be good to go? Am I missing anything? Will a TA49 or TA60 setup like this fit without hood interference and do any of you have a setup like this? I am just curious as I always see 49s for sale on the board for a good deal. Sorry if this has been covered before. The seal on my Dads 85 GNs turbo went this past weekend and I know he has wanted to upgrade for a while. If putting a TA series takes too much work, which turbo works best, a TA48 or a Ta33c? Both seem to work well and i like both companies. The 85 GN has ported big valve heads, big cam (unknown specs) ATR headers, ATR DP, fuel mods, cold air, 87 ecm, LT1 MAF and translator. Would like to get 12.4-5 out of it if possible :racer:

I have not personally done this yet, but I am looking to do this in the near future. It has been done several different ways, hopefully those that have done it will be able to give you some insight. Some have welded adaptors to the turbos and others have modified the turbo to work with the adaptor. I have not heard of any issues with the 48 or 33 turbos for the hot air cars. Good luck an keep us updated on your decision.
