I was wondering what other cars you guy's have seen with the SMC kit or similar.
Trying to pursude a couple of supercharged Mustang owners to look into Alky or propane,so they quit detonating, and beating the hell out of their cars.
Thanks Bill Chapman

Bill:
We've done systems on approx 2,000 TR's and a couple hundred others on anything from blown Camaros to Lightning trucks to new WRX's. Anything turbo'd or supercharged can be helped with alcohol injection. The blown Mustangs really can use it, heard from one the other day that picked up over 100 hp from the added timing he was able to run!

Thanks for the speedy reply Steve,
I thought it would work I figured all we would need to do is tap into the Boost gauge line.
Thanks again and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong(usually Am :stupid: )

Big question is on the eaton blowers is the spraying after or before the blower. The issues of teflon on the rotors getting damaged by alcohol.

Then if its after the blower the use of a solenoid to prevent siphoning..

Distribution also plays a role depending on nozzle placement.

Razor is correct in there being some concern over alky affecting the coating on some blower rotors. I haven't seen it personally, but I remember somebody who said they had seen some coating peeling on I think a TRD blower. I don't know what injection setup they had or what type of alky they used....

But the gains might be worth the risks! I've had a customer see 100HP increases on a blown Mustang.

As for nozzle location....unless you do a direct port setup with a nozzle for each cylinder, you MUST spray b4 the blower if you expect to get any decent spray distribution.

And as for a solenoid valve b4 the alky nozzle?- definitely needed whenever spraying AFTER the TB or on a roots blown car. (blower on intake)

I have one on my GN and would like to put one on my '02 WRX. The problem with the WRX is the turbo is out of it's efficency at 16psi, so that would mean I need a turbo replacement first to get any value out of it.

Oh yeah. Thanks for a great product Steve I love the kit but hate the RCA jacks that sometime don't make contact.

Fellow list member Steve Seldon has one on his Whipple Supercharged 01 Tahoe, works very nice from my SOTP butt dyno :)

The newer kits don't use any RCA connectors, only a 4 conductor Weatherpack connector, very sweet. As for the WRX, I've got a new '04 I'm playing with....the stock turbo may be out of it's range at 17 psi, but the alky can probly stretch that to 18, maybe 19. Will keep you posted as testing is done.

I met a guy in Virginia running an Aquamist setup on his GTP at 19psi.

Looked good but he was getting 10 degrees of knock

Running straight water though

I'm assming your talking about the WRX...I'm going to use a Palm based OBD2 scantool that can graph timing on the fly.

I don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but I've heard of Saabs going that way. Only water, though.

Steve, I lost the little atomizer piece out of my nozzle. Is that something I can get local, or do I need to call you?
