Never thought I'd say it but a big thumbs up to Ford on the redesign of the mustang. I test drove an 03 SVT before buying my car and I must say, although it had tons of power and looked good on the outside. What a total piece of shit once you sit inside. The styling and materials used and their fit was just terrible. The new car looks great and depending on what the price will be, I'm sure it will be cheaper than the Vette, will hurt Vette sales as it's a viable competitor to the Vette even though the Vette isn't a "Ponycar" in the truest sense of the word. It's the only sports car GM offers really! :top:

I'm loving it (with the exception of the gauges). The good old days are definitely today!

I think it is the most hideous thing I have seen in a long time. The roofline looks totally wrong, and the rest of the body looks like something some high school kid drew on his notebook. :joint:
Where do I puke :wc:
As far as the Corvette is concerned, I don't think any sales will be lost, the GTO might be a different story though.

I absolutely LOVE it. It's an incredibly faithful (modern) reproduction of the 68GT!!
Even the dash has the 68 lines!

Being an ex owner of said 68GT's I guess I'm biased, but it was and is my favorite Mustang body style.

I love it also, especially with the racing stripes. I agree with Dave on the C6 also, I think it is bad ass.

The day any Ferd takes away from 'Vette sales is the day I'm selling my Buicks. :racer:

Unless the get the GT40 down to $75K.

Yup, it's still a Ferd.........

Unfortunatly the looks will probably sell a ton of them.
As for the quality " HAVE YOU DRIVIN A FURD LATLEY?"
My neighbors EXPLODER (BRAND NEW) has been back to the dealer 3 times in 5 months.

So, what is your alternative for a new sports car other than than GTO which looks like a Grand Am? Nothing..unless you're into the import scene, there's no other American sports cars. I think the Mustang will do great! GM dropped the ball BIGTIME. The perf. car scene has come full circle with imports pushing the 300hp mark and GM has nothing.

<rant>
And who do you think this car is targeted at? The kid with it drawn on his notebook!

Now lets look at GM's marketing strategies:

Buick: Get the old farts $$ before he croaks and leaves it to the kid that wants a new 2005 Mustang. This is quite obvious by the marketing campaign with AARP. Buick has abandonded us. :marchmell

Oldsmobile: Bye Bye :gost:

Cadillac: Yuppiemobiles designed 10 years ago. This is in case you missed the boat 10 years ago. :racer:

Pontiac: First the @sstek, the ugliest abomination of japanese steel ever produced! Now we get a Holden renamed to make us WISH for the days of muscle...the GTO. Another rebadged piece of crap! Firebird? Dump it. We can save some $$ to make another overpriced Buick truck to snag the old farts $$ with. :asskickin

Chevy: "Honest, we did beat the Viper in a head to head test, we just can't remember what test it was right now. Lets just keep it the pretty much status quo. Remember, if it ain't broke, don't fix it." :joint:

Well, GM :frech: Make a real car like the friggin Blackhawk that you've now paraded around for 3 years!!! Dammit, if it's good enough to parade around for 3 years, don't ya think somebody would buy the d@mn thing if ya built it?!? Huh???

Riddle: What job can you be wrong 100% of the time and still keep your job?
Answer: A GM marketing executive. Even a weatherman has to be right some of the time! :applaus:

I saw the new mustangs while I was at the ford proving grounds last year,
( we do some input for them, and they give us tours, lunch, shirts, hats, )
I'm a confirmed GM guy, but gotta admit, they look good!
I also saw some prototype mustangs there, Wow, if they follow thru on them, look out GTO! I'm impressed, but then at my age, thats easy!

Look out GM, I'm loving it.
I'll take my Fox body anyday.
On the fence, not sure on the whole retro thing.

So where is the " I never really liked Mustangs, and this one sucks *** worse than the rest"? That is what I would vote here.

Funny thing is that the GTO has been bashed to death about not having enough retro styling and I think it looks good, now I see this ultra-retro fugly looking Bondo Buggy looking 60 something wanna-be mustang and know exactly why. Lets see how long this body lasts, we already know that ford will change the mustang at will just to try to disprove the fact it is based on an old platform.

I think it's going to be one of the best selling years and get a lot of people that were never ford people to buy their product. I've never owned a ford, am not a fordnut but if I were in the market for an American sports car and my choices were the Vette, GTO, or Mustang I don't think it would be a tough choice. If it had to have a backseat you're down to the Stang and GTO. I think you'll see GM redesigning the GTO before the stang gets redone.

Oh, crappy retro styling...SSR anyone? Ever see the prototype camaro or nomad wagon in Motortrend?
