Help out an idiot here. What would be needed to make a stage I motor, other than the block. Will all OEM parts work with the block? No, I'm not using stock parts, just wondering. J. Cottton is selling me a stage I block (never used) and a BMS crank. I was just wondering what other special parts are needed. Just trying to get a plan together as far as $$ and time. We will be using new Oliver rods, and ?? new pistons, GN1 heads and the new Champion intake.
Will my front cover fit, same cams fit?, lifters? I should buy better balancer and flexplate?, OEM oil pan fits?, will all accessories fit on an ***-center stage I block?
Thanks.

Can someone tell me why ***-center is blocked out?? Is "***" a bad word now? Where have I been?

OK, I guess O-F-F is now a curse word. I better be careful when I talk to people now.??

Looks like a hiccup. It should be fixed now. Billy's repsonse looks like a word jumble! :)
I think what Billy was trying to say is "yes, everything will work." I would put a sfi flexplate and a BMS balancer on it. You'll need a 14 bolt oil pan, not a 20.
Let me take a look and see what the problem is with o-f-f.. Looks like someone has been playing with the censored words list.

Note, the lifter bores on S1 blocks are the same as production blocks. You need to be carefull when using solid rollers.
Only 14 bolt pans fit.

Well OK. I heard Cotton had a valve train issue at the Nationals. He was running solid roller on a Stage I. Tell me why it's not a good idea. I bought a Comp hyd. roller set-up.

Scott,
I had a minor problem, pulled one of the mounting bolts for the rocker stand, just happened to be the worst one that it could happen to. #1 bolt on the end of the head, I pulled the threads out of the head, and the whole assembly began to lift away from the head causing #1 cylinder rockers to have excessive valve lash. Actually, it was very loud valve train noise, sounding worse than it was, lost #1 cyl. making my last pass against Chris L. on 5 cyl. I could only muster a 9.17@150, In the finals, with Otto, me and JoeL. left, I decided to concede to Joe, since I didn't know, at the time, exactly what the problem was.......... and my block is a stage 2 on-center block.
As for your Stage 1 motor, BHJ balancer, JW flywheel, Oliver rods, Diamond pistons, and a 14 bolt alum. pan are what we talked about. We'll probably change the cam, since the original combo when you purchased the cam was for a stock block with a little different HP goal in mind.....

Thanks Jack. Great working with you. I don't know if I can afford to "race" a class next year. I don't know if I really could use the GN1R heads. Whats the big advantage compaired to race ported "regular" GN1 heads? Just a little or big difference? Could GN1R be used for a little street use?

David,
Yes, it has the pickup for the oil for an external pump, prices start at $650. Thanks Ted......
Scott, the heads you have now will work fine, I don't see any benefit in using the R's for your combo. I think you will fit into the TSE class just fine and be more than competitive once we get the whole package together.

I'll stick to the plan. Always a "next time".
Is the Champion intake OK in TSE??

Not under the current rules. Stock intake only.

Scott,
According to my conversation with Nick Mc. they should be legal this year coming. As soon as the rules discussion begin, in the next month, I am sure we will get that addressed immediately.

I would like to yell and scream to get them on the "OK list", but I really do not Nick.
