So I'm looking to do a basic refreshening of the top end (ie: valve springs and timing chain). Is there anything else I should look at doing at this time? What other parts would you recommend throwing in when freshening up the top end and why? Let's keep costs realistic, and be as detailed and overly descriptive as you wish!

...while you've got the springs off, might as well replace the valve stem seals. Relatively cheap, and the old ones are 18 years old. Intake valves only - exhausts don't use seals.
Depending on your budget, and how much rpm you're planning to run, you might consider a set of rocker shaft braces, or even a set of stronger shafts.
Good Luck,

I've got some brand new valve seals if you want them Mike. They're left over from when I did my springs. Also, make sure you get all the up dated stuff for your timing chain set and the roller cam button. I have the cam sensor tool if you need to borrow it. Sure makes setting the sensor a snap!

Get the good FelPro rubber valve cover gaskets, the cover will be off again some day :racer:
I have my covers off now and painted my alternator housing and covers and they came out looking great. I highly recommend it
