Hello,

We have dates!

Friday July 30th test-n-tune/qualifying
Saturdat July 31st eliminations

Here's some things I'm still working on, please feel free to reply here or e-mail me your suggestions/thoughts/opinions.

Eats for Friday night. There is a Pizza place right there in Woodburn that stays open until at least midnight so we would not be rushed.

Eats for Saturday night. We were thinking of doing a BBQ at the track. We are going to look into catering costs and may roll this into the entry fee.

Quick 8 or Quick 16 heads up class? This would be a third class for folks to enter. We will still have the 11.99-quicker and 12.00-slower bracket classes.

Sponsorship. It looks like we might have a T-shirt connection (HYBRIDT) and I was thinking of offering sponsors (Buick parts vendors) to pay $100 to get their logo on the shirt. All proceeds would go toward payouts.

Host hotel. Do we want to stay with the Holiday Inn, or try something thats better or closer to the track?

Also FYI there is going to be a first annual BOP event at Woodburn this year. The dates are September 3rd & 4th. The track offered to give us our own lane for turbo cars if we wanted. Not sure I'm read to bite off coordinating this one as I plan to race my Skylark.

Rob, the dates were given to me verbally over the phone from the track. I guess they could have screwed up, it will be in print soon on their schedule. The dates I gave before were tenative, it sounds like the track is still finalizing the schedule, it has not been published or printed yet.

Dave, is turbo thunder open to other cars with turbos ie mustangs ?

Scott...YES!

Woodburn also offered to let us have a lane at their BOP race, and said that we could bring any make Turbo car to that event. I don't plan to organize that one though so not sure what might happen there.

As in years past at Turbo Thunder, the Fastest/Quickest/Best plaques are for the Buicks only. Bracket and Quick-8 Winner and Runner up payouts and plaques are up for grabs for any American Made Turbocharged vehicle.

I will get an event flyer out as soon as we get more details nailed down.

We had a turbo 5.0 there last year and a 3.8L lc2 powered 280z so as long as it is american powered and turbo I think it qualifies but you may want to get clarification from Dave.

Hey Dave, I may know somebody with a turbo'd 289 in a '63 Jag E-type. Would that qualify? Also I have another 87 Turbo T from here in Longview that may be coming. You won't miss it seeing as it is painted Mitsubishi Arrest-me-Red.

Yeah, you probably didn't see me too much since, I was banging my head against a wall all weekend. :add_schac I was having little problems with it all weekend. It was slowing down big time I figured it was because of the weather. The next time out at the track it broke the crank. I'm thinking it was probably hurt at Turbo Thunder.

More noticeable yes. Next to Dennis, I dunno. We'll see once the slicks go on.

Hey Black hole
I'm kinda a neighbor as in I live just north in Ridgefield and a friend of mine has a 95 mustang project with a 347 stroker sitting in a crate on his shop floor,he used to be running the stock 5.0 with the KenneBell Blowzilla supercharger on it and he never really got anywhere near dialing the car in.
He basically put on the supercharger, some new injecters, and ran it.
It pulled really well down low,but seemed to fall on it's face at about 85-90mph(which I think was from leaning out).
I was wondering If you might be able to kinda mentor the guy and get him going in the right direction,as in recommending some tuning aids like who's chip or piggy back computer to run or scan tool stuff so he can moniter what's happening.
The guy's got alot of money and hard work into this thing and as much as I ride him about it I'd hate to see him piss it away.
If you don't want to help that's cool, maybe you could recommend somebody.
Thanks in advance.

Bill, its not a problem. I can try to help him with what I can. I can tell you right off of the bat that I've heard that the 94-95 processors seem to be the hardest to work with. I've heard of people going so far as to swap an earlier processor in to help correct the problems. I've never worked with a 94-95 car but, that is what I have been told by both of the local mustang shops. Tell him to feel free and e-mail me at blackholehunter1@comcast.net .

Street/Strip tranny, 3000 stall lock-up TCS 9X11 converter, MSD ignition system, and finally doing away with that power sucking mechanical fan and switching to a 16" electric fan. Also if I have enough left from income tax, while the rest of you are sucking in 90-95 degree air, I will be getting 35-40 degree air into mine with a little creativity and liquid CO2.

Most of us have been switching to the thicker Sealed Power rocker shafts during the valve spring change depending on the spring pressure.

What??? you're not buying those overpriced drilled pieces of aluminum from T/A??? :rolleyes1

When I rebuilt my motor I just bought the whole rocker kit from sealed power. Came with all the buttons, arms, and shafts...

Apparently the best "budget" rocker arm setup is available at the Turbobuicks.com message board at around $70 for everything if I remember correct...

Hey Gary, apparently we quit carrying them at my work but the Clevite number is 214-1129. They can be ordered if you can't find them anywhere in town. Our price is $.59 each so a total of 12 is $7.08. Or they have them at 1 of my stores out in Gresham on E. Powell.

I am in the process of stripping the smog pump and emissions lines off, have to mount and wire in the MSD ignition, convert to the electric fan setup, rebuild that alternator and have you powdercoat the casing, mount my new boost gauge and install my new mini-starter.
