I need to get an exhaust system on my car ASAP!Here is the problem. My car has what I think is the stock Cat. on it.Where downpipe meets Cat. it is a 4-bolt square flange connecting the 2.Exit of the Cat. is a round bell for the flair type Cat-back exhaust system.I want to get a 2 1/2" mandrel bent dual system. They seem to be only for the 86-87 cars with the large rectangle 4-bolt flange on the exit of the Cat.I need this system to be able to switch the Cat. in and out with a test pipe.1 for emissions testing and the other for raceing only.Any help with what others have done to address these issues would be appreciated.Dammit! It seems I am always having to fabricate my own parts!

I wish I could help!!! I have stock system in my car still, being that the motor is still out, trans is out, and I am going to run open exhaust when it finally does get running....What you should look into is the BORLA exhaust system. I have heard they make a real good 2.5" set for the turbo cars, cat back. if you can find out if it is clamp on, or bolt on, then you can get a high flow cat to put in place after the DP...
I have a good friend who works on mustangs, but is a midas mechanic, and does very nice welding, for a very, very fair price....He lives in my tow, and works in my town, and also tows for AAA, so he's like, an exhaust needing persons wet dream...he can tow your car to the shop if you dont have the balls to drive it there, and he has great skills, for a darn good price!!!
Anywho, I think you can go ATR, singleshot or dual 2.5's or 3", and if it has the 4 bolt flange, cut it off, and spread the pipe a little bit to fit in the cat with a pipe spreader. I think it is like a 50 dollar tool for a cheap one? How many times will you use it?
Good luck Mike!

Thats it!I will cut off what I need from a 86-87 test pipe then weld on the square flange I got from Atr.Like a hybrid pipe, half 84-85 on downpipe side and half 86-87 on the cat-back exhaust side.Sweet!Only 1 cut and 1 weld. This is going to be easier than I thought. Thanks!

ATR sells an adaptor to go from the 84-5 style to the 86-7 style.
