I have a 49 I cannot see you having any lag at all. Mine spools on light accel. More power, crank up the boost I have found the best spot for this Turbo on C16 is 25-26psi :arco:

Add a PTE .63 housing.

Waste of money on the housing IMO.
If you have lag issues with a ta49, then you have other issues, either a bad state of tune, poorly calibrated chip for your combo, possibly leaky injector/s wrong stall tc in the trans, possibly wrong govenor or valve body, need a tune up etc. There are many things that could be looked at, but the ta49 itself with an otherwise well tuned car should not present any lag issues.
OK, I reread the post and thought you were saying you had lag...so disregard what I said, but it's still true :)
If you wanna add more power, just tune tune tune. Make sure you're spring cleaning is done and get a scan tool and see what's going on. Also, if you want quicker spool, with more useable power on tap instantly, check out Jay Carter's variable timing chip...you need the chip and a 3bar map sensor along w/a harness for the tps.

Get a good chip from Eric at Turbo-Tweak, put some C16 in it, crank the boost to about 25-26PSI and hold on. This Turbo with good tune will bring you to high 11's. :arco:
Porting:
- The inlet bell, unless you already have an aftermarket billet style, but even then, take a look at it to see if anything needs smoothing/blending.
- The compressor outlet and exhaust housing. (Remove housings from center section.)
- The elbow, matching it to the exhaust housing as best as posible, preferably with a 1.25" or 1.3" puck.
Also make sure the compressor is clocked correctly with as straight a path as possible into the IC tubing.
