Just wondering if I will need to hotwire a Quad Air DP fuel pump system? I would think not since you have two pumps supplying fuel which is more than necessary...hotwiring something allows to get more juice out of a single pump for max flow...if I don't need it then I am selling it for $50 shipped...anyone wanna chime in? I have never ran a DP before... :fragez:

You're actually going to need to hotwire both pumps and use a pressure switch to activate the second pump. The new generation of in tank pumps will actually perform worse than an unhotwired stock pump in an unhotwired enviroment.

Agreed. Both my ATR double pumps are hotwired. But then they're older than dirt (like me).

Absolutely. If the stock wiring is not good enough to supply the voltage to one single stock pump, it's definately not adequate to feed 2 aftermarket pumps.

Is there an easy way to take a Caspers hotwire kit that is for one pump and adapt it to work with both pumps, or do you need a 2nd hotwire kit. IOW, do you need a seperate hotwire kit for each pump or is there a way to utilize one kit for both pumps. :fragez:

I would use two different kits since they will effectively be seperate circuits with the pressure switch and all.

Jay, I'm doing the same thing. I have a DIY hotwire from years back using a 10 gauge wire, maybe 8 but not sure (it's big). If you have that wire coming back and pigtail two relays off it, wouldn't that effectively be the same? It's only a feed line and surely it can handle the additional amps/voltage needs of the 2nd and/or both pumps. The Hobbs switch would trigger the 2nd relay; obviously you'd need a separate wire for that. I just hate running more and more wire unnecessarily.

I'd rather not have a single power source.
Everything in theory can be run your way, but given time age and miles things fail, and the less loading (in a marjority of applications) the longer the life. Running wire in almost good Karma on a GN.
