I just bought a PT-52 with a 2800 stall(I know to Low, it'll be gone this week!) and I was wondering what other than a 3'dp can get this guy to spool a little quicker, I know It'll spool a lot faster with the new torque converter but what other options can I add, I heard a good cam can help, the car is also a Turbo T/A so a front mount really isn't an option, except for a streched IC. Any help would be greatly aprecitated. Also is a 208/208 a good cam for my stock head? I really don't want to port and polish them.

Good chip programing and proper wastegate setup will get the turbo spooling better, espcally after you go to a higher stall converter.

We ran a PT-54 with a 3200 stall 9/11 on a friends car and it ran great.

Mine spools pretty quick. I have a 3in. thdp, a precision front mount, and also at about 3300 stall converter. I have done anything to the wastegate yet,(needs a tune) but it pulls quick enough for me.

What kind of TC are you getting? I have a t63e with a 3200k stall 9x11 and it spools great. Also, what injectors are you going to be using? A properly calibrated chip for your fuel and turbo sizes it going to make a world of difference as well and making sure your car is in a proper state of tune along with all of the normal maintainence stuff done..plugs, wires, clean oil out of IC, clean carbon buildup on iac/tb and that type of stuff. With the power you're gonna be running w/that 52, a shift kit wouldn't be a bad idea to firm up your tranny a little bit and give you a little extra before shifting too early on ya.

The injectors are 50lbs, the stall and TC is a precision vigilante and its a 2800, chip is a red armstrong street chip, also the tranny is a 200-4r and was built by Mike Kurtz, also what are anyones thoughts on what I should bring it up to? I'm thinking 3200, but is 3400 overkill for my setup?

3k minimum, 3200 would be optimum IMO.

I'd go with a 3100-3200 9" Art Carr non-lock converter or a 9-11 lock up with a 3300-3400 stall. Forget the cam change....save your money. Your new 52 turbo will spool better than a stocker and be very consistent in the 1/4 mile with the right converter and the stock cam.

This is essentially the combo I have run for the last 3 years. The 52 turbo really wakes up at 25-26 psi!! It'll suprise you at 28-29!! Oh yeah, you better have the tune down exactly right before you try the higher boost numbers.....or bad things happen. Ask me how I know!!

IMO, you might want to try the 2800 first. Here's my experience with a 3000 9/11 with typical tuneups running 100 octane (I don't change fuel between street and strip):

- TA49 @ ~21psi, 009s, CAS V2 FM, 98 Extender w/3": stall = ~2800
- Same except ~21psi, 98 Extender +4* WOT: stall = ~3000
- PTE52 @ ~21psi, MSD 50s, CAS V2 FM, 98 Extender w/3": stall = ~3200
- Same except ~24psi, 104 Extender: stall = ~3500 (or more)

Point is, depending on the power being put out, the stall will change. If you are going to keep it in a milder state of tune for street driving, a looser converter may be in order. Decide now.

I'll also echo what others have said about the chip programming, but specifically about the "quick spool code", as I believe it is called. One thing to be aware of, though, is that traction may be an issue, particulary if higher timing is employed.. I can attest to that. :-)

Only if you wanna drop the tranny twice go witha 2800 ;) I would not get a 52 to begin with....I've seen/heard mega spool problems with them. I almost went that route too.. JayC talked me into a t63e and w/my 3200, spools and drives like a stocker. I love it.
