Go for it and don't worry about it. Just don't expect to take turns real fast.
Not to mention is you get into a panic brake situation and the wheels aren't straight, you'll bend the rim.

Don't use them on the street. I did and it almost cost me my life. If you like to street race or get on the go pedal occasionally, you will definitely exceed the safe limits of the skinnies in a heartbeat. A folded rim or broken bead on a tire is unforgiving, and may cause a drastic change in your lifestyle.
Also, I would assume that if you did get into an accident with these wheels, your insurance company may deny your claim. Especially if they are identified as the cause of the accident. The majority of these wheels are stamped OFF ROAD USE ONLY for a reason. All said and done though, they sure look cool don't they?

Well-i guess you guys talked me out of making a big mistake! I will keep on looking!! Thanks-kurt
If you can get them cheap enough, go ahead and buy them. Then save up and buy two more 6" wheels for street duty.

I agree, I have had some pretty exciting situations and these were the 165 VW skinnies. Even a panic brake from 45MPH will make you pucker let alone one from 100MPH. You probally have heard all the horror stories from running with drag radials in the rain, same case with the skinnies. IMO if you want to run a smaller tire try a 15X6" or 15X5.5"wheel with a 205/60-15 speed rated tire. When you go to track you can safely over inflate it for a smaller footprint.

welll, i've had this setup on for bout 5 yrs now and no problems. skinnies up front and 275/50 drag radials in the back.i replaced the fronts last year with some mastercrafts and am going to change the backs this spring to some nitto drags i think. i just know my limits. the car is just summer driven and i've only been caught in the rain twice. i just slowed down and took it easy.
i love the look and the looks it gets. my reply to a bro in law that didnt like them---- buy me what you like and i'll run em. keith

It's your cash & your car get what you like and think look good.
I've put thousands of street miles on 15X3.5" rims on a few different cars. I never had any problem, but I was careful, didn't try to corner the car at all, and was lucky to never get into a panic stop situation. Although shutting a car down from 130 MPH at some tracks is kind of like a panic stop
A good alternative is a set of 15X5" rims. A friend runs these on his Big Block Nova and he's able to fit a small BFG radial on them. Still looks pretty skinny, and its safer, and handles better than the skinnier wheel/tire.
