If you have approx 3K stall, go for the PT54 (TE61). Let me know if you are interested in the turbo.

I put on a pt52 and couldn't build any boost with the stock converter. Before going to a bigger street turbo you had better be looking for at least a 3200 stall converter. Or better yet 3400-3500 or you will be VERY disappointed in it not building boost for the first couple hundred feet. Let me emphasize that you must go to a higher stall converter with the bigger turbos.

As for a 53 vs. a 54, bigger is always better. I went to the 52 thinking that would be it, but as JayC told me you will always want to go faster and a bigger turbo is part of the equation. Now i have a pt72.

All I can say about that you much have been rich in the spool up phase of your tune.

I built 10-15 PSI with a PT-53 with a stock converter, and I now have a 61 with a restalled D5 that stalls 2700 RPM@15 PSI...It's to tight on the street and it takes a bit to build boost at the track, but it works.

Why limit yourself to those two turbos? If you have a stock stall go with a te-44/ta-49, you won't be disappointed. A few guys here locally have had problems with there pt-52-54s, but others seem to have better luck..

A good TA49/TE44 would be a really nice turbo for the street and stock stall. If you are closer to 2800 stall, the TE/A60 is a nice little street turbo. I have a few customers using the TE/A 61 with 3K stall and they love it. Chips vary among customers, but that combo seems to work very well.

If you really want to know what turbo you have, you need to take the compressor housing off and measure the compressor wheel.

On the exhaust housing, there should be a few digits stamped on the mating sureface to the downpipe.
