That is going to be absolutely sweet! Are you going to keep the stock exterior look or update the wheels and tires? The body looks great as well!

That looks pretty cool, and seems to fit with only a medium sized shoehorn. :)
It would be interesting to roll up, and then pull away with that great whistle, I can just imagine the looks on peoples faces. ;)
Very nice. Is that original steel or glass? What other mods does this car have? IFS? Discs?

What front suspension are you using? My Fatman's Mustang II setup doesn't leave any room to duct air to the stock location intercooler. My current plan is to use a stock I/C as a front mount, installed below the radiator where the splash apron used to be. How are you getting air to the I/C?
I originally wanted to keep mine all Buick but Buicks from the early to mid 30's were all to expensive or too far gone. So, I ended up with a LC2 powered Chevy!

The front end is from a Chevy II/ Nova. Lots of room up front for a stock location intercooler. The engine compartment is long front to back but very narrow. Vintage Air packages really nice in this body. I should have it running in the next week or so.

That explains alot. My last street rod project had a Nova subframe. It was really too wide for the car but would've left an opening for a stock style I/C shroud and scoop. The Fatman's MII crossmember is directly under the stock I/C on my car but there's no place for the shroud. I started to just run it that way, but that'd defeat the purpose of the I/C to a large degree. I got your PM, BTW. I'll call you. Thanks.

Not sure what Dave is using in the Buick that this post is about. In my '36 Chevy I'm using a 2004R tranny. It has an 8.5" 10 bolt (non-posi) in it now but I'm looking for an 8.8" Ford Explorer rear for it (posi and discs from the factory and CHEAP!).

200-4r Trans and the 8.5" from a GN on leaf springs.

Just a quick update.....The darn thing runs!!! I primed the oil pump, set the cam sensor. Poured 5 gallons of gas in the tank and engine came to life on the first crank!! 80 psi oil pressure, no engine noise and a sweet sound of unmuffled turbo V6!! Life is good!

Well, Jerry's 39 is now complete. It turned out awesome in my opinion. The pictures below don't do justice to the car. I was responsible for the electrical system only. The paint, body, interior and everything else was done elsewhere.

Dave, that looks awesome! Is the motor a fairly stock piece? I can imagine with a good stock-ish build that car will be an absolutely awesome driver..overdrive, plenty o' torque to haul that barge down the road... :) Neat car!

Great looking car. Nice to see something fresh and original.
Also nice to see people take their time and do a project right. I bet he's going to get plenty of years of enjoyable driving from that piece. Would love to see that at a nationals event.

The front seats are stock seats from a 800 series GM truck(current model) with the head rests cut down.
The engine/trans/rear axle is stock 86-87. Vintage Air keeps the passenger compartment cumfy. Dakota digital cruise helps the driver keep a constant speed and the dash is full of VDO electric gauges.
The frame is the original 39 frame with a nova/camaro front sub-frame grafted to it. The car rides nice, accelerates crisply and turns heads!
I had over 100 hours in the electrical system alone. This was a fun project!

Thanks for the info. How 'bout the back seats? My dad has a '33 Buick Victoria Coupe that we'd like to do something similar to.

The back seats are the original 39 Buick seats that were recovered to match the front seats. The originals have a cool fold-down arm rest that you would not have expected from a car of that era. The rear opera windows also slide open to allow additional ventilation (also another cool feature).
