The purpose of the PTE exhaust housing is to obtain more high end HP without sacrificing the bottom end. I was thinking on upgrading my TE 60 with this housing. Does anyone have experience with the PTE housing?

I have quite a few customers that have upgraded to the PTE housing. With a good amount of stall you will not loose any bottom end. You will get a good top end charge though.

With your customers once they upgraded to the PTE housing they lost the bottom end and then upgraded the converter? Currently I have a TE60 with a RJC boost controller and a Neal Change 2800 stall.

The people that complain of loosing bottom end usually are running stock stall.
I have no experience with the NC converters, but you will not have a problem with the 2800 stall and a TE60 going to a PTE housing.
The chip also has a lot to do with the way the turbo acts.

Hey Taffy. Which one you recommend PTE .63 or the PTE .85? I'm looking to upgrade.

If you find a used one. I think they had a few problems with the first batch they cast. The holes didn't line up right.

Garrett, faster spool
PTE, better mid and high end

Are you sure? Are you talking with a stock converter?

It does not matter which converter you run, the design of the Garrett housing is not the exact same as the PTE even though they are both a .63 housing. You can get different size housings just by moving where to take the measurements to get the a/r.
IMO, these cars spool fast already and I would go with the PTE .63 and not worry about it. If you want a better spool, ditch the stock wastegate solenoid for a manual boost controller.

The PTE exhaust housing on a TE60 with a 2800 stall convertor, most likely will not be a good choice. I would not recommend it for a 12" convertor. What do you have on there now for an E.H.? Also, how does it spool and perform now?

.63 Garrett housing. It spools fast.

I've run both PTE housings on my 44. I've ended up keeping the .85 in place for the incredible top end charge. I lost a little (and I emphisize "little") bottom end with it, but my vigilante converter makes up for that.:arco:
I love the PTE housings. Either will make you happy.

Yes, it should spool decent with a 3200 9.5" convertor, in fact it should be right on. But.... since we are talking about a 60 and not a 44 turbo and a 12" convertor, not a 9.5" convertor, it really isn't a fair comparison. I'm not saying it won't work, I've seen "2800" stall convertors stall over 3,000rpm ........after about 15 seconds on the brake, not sure if that is what he is looking for. While testing and tuning, it may not matter how long the spool time is, when racing a car in the next lane........ it does.

What kind of stall are you getting with your NC 2800 stall when you are on the brake? You are probably better off with the .63. What kind of racing do you do? What kind of tires do you run when you race?

About 2600
What kind of racing do you do?
The car is normally driven on the street. I try to get to the track once a year. I’m looking to get a bit more out of the TE60 without upgrading to a bigger turbo.
What kind of tires do you run when you race?
I’m running BFG DR 325-50/15. Last time at the track I was launching with 7# with zero tire spin, 1.85 60’. I think these tires will still hook with 10# launches.

They quoted me $175. I do not know if it was a .63 or .85.

$175 is the same for both.
To inject my opinion, I agree with Jack. With the 60 turbo using either PTE .63 or .85 the stock stall is not going to work well.
3000 stall would be my minimum choice. With stock to 2800 I would stay with the garrett .63
Since the car is primarily a street car with maybe (1) once a year track, he would be more happy with the street response with the smaller a/r garret.
As an alternate change stall to 3000, then he could consider the Garrett .82 or .63 pte.

I thought I had a Garrett .82 around the house but can't find it. Would you say the .82 is about the same as a PTE .63, and the PTE .85 is then a step more.

Yep! Pretty darn close.
