Anyone have good experiences to share with having their 2004R rebuilt?
I'd like to keep it relatively local (I live in Torrance, but up to 1.5 hour away OK)
My trans is mush, the car goes, but the power is sapped as boost builds and the 1-2 is a joke.
I realize mail order from up north or back east is an option, still need someone for the R&R though.
I'd still prefer local just in case of an issue, don't want to have builder/installer conflicts.
Thanks

The tranny in my friends and my car are both from The Toy Shop in Pomona, CA. They were done 2-3 years ago and are fine. My friends car has about 15-20K on it, 100+ mid 11 sec passes. Mine has ~13K on it, a few passes (20-30ish). Both shift well and seem to be holding together. Rebuild cost was like $800-$900 not including converter

I talked a lot to Don, and also with Art Carr in Huntington Beach. I decided on Art, mostly because he was closer. He did great by me, including letting me drive his car! He even gave me his personal cell number if I had any problems. I did take it back because it was too tight for the street and they made it perfect: Hard shifts under power, perfectly drivable the rest of the time.
His place is called California Performance Transmissions now...1-800-278-2277
I had mine flat-bedded in from Victorville as it was DEAD.
The thing is great though it leaks a bit because I don't drive it enough.

Art Car is the man. I have his TC and shift kit in my tranny and the work GREAT. I have also meet and talked with him a few times and he is a ez guy to deal with. I would recommend him any day.
