Well, I guess a 76gtq and .63 exh with a stock wastegate don't work to well together. Anything more than 1/4 throttle and 18psi resulted in the wastegate puck opening. After shortening up the rod as much as possible it still blew by at 18psi. My guess is that the exh housing is so small that the exhaust can't escape out the downpipe fast enuff resulting in an unpleasant surging effect. I'm going to try an .85 housing and see if that works. You guys have any ideas?? BTW, sorry I didn't have more time to talk Dale. It was good to meet you though. Thanx for stopping and saying hi.

Scott,
It sounds like you might have excessive back pressure due to the small turbine housing. I know I'm up against the same thing since I'm having trouble getting over 26 PSI boost on my car. I'm going to try a larger turbine housing and see if it helps.
Merry Christmas.

Do you have the heavy duty actuator? The HD actuator will allow the puck to seat better on the housing before opening.
Let me know if you want to get one.

I was at Kenny's yesterday and we were going over my setup. I run a 74 turbo with an .81 housing and Kenny suggested going to a .96 because it would have less back pressure. I am not sure if I can spool it up on a foot brake with a 3800 stalll convertor but if I could the car would pickup a fair amount of HP. Since Kenny has the .96 Q trim housing for me to try; I will probably take a shot at it.

I WISH I could use a .96 With the TH DP I'm limited to an .82 I should have it replaced by next week so hopefully it works out.
Yes - I do have a HD actuator.
I forgot to mention I managed a 11.90@118 with no burnout, off idle (2.2) 60ft launch, and 1/4 throttle with 15-18psi throughout the entire run!! This thing is going to fly when it's sorted out. :thrashi:
