Alright, some of you know this but if you don't here goes. I bought a 150k mile Turbo-T from the original owner last week. I bought it after I wrecked my GN at the dragstrip, and this was going to be a backup driver or maybe even a parts donater for my GN. Anyways, it's too complete, and original for that. I've already been offered 1,100 more than I paid, but my gut tells me to make it nice and keep or sell it later on down the road. So tell me what you would do. Keep in mind that I need to fix my GN, I might be buying a parts GN for 1500 that is mostly complete, and the doors from that could be used for the rusty ones on this car. It's completely original except for a fuelpump and hotwire kit. I bought it from the original owner and I haven't even registered it yet. I fixed a code 44 and the car runs great now.
Here is the car: http://home.bellsouth.net/coDataImages/p/Groups/121/121728/folders/118564/831801day4.jpg

So what would you do in my situation? Sell it quickly and make 1100? Try Ebay? Keep it and make it nice? Keep in mind if I buy that parts car I'll have excellent doors to replace the ones that have rusty corners on this car. That's the only real problem area.
Thanks for taking your time to help me,
James

post it on ebay with a reserve of more then you think you can get for it to test the waters... its only 40 bucks or somethign like that. how know you my get enuff out of the car to fix the GN and have some cash left over.
there is no right answer. when it comes to cars... its always better to trust your gut. when i buying a car i go over it and mak sure it meets my standards then i listen to my gut. if i dont like the owner i will not buy the car etc. so do what you feel.

Counteroffer the deal. If you can make a quick $1100, you're likely selling yourself a little short. Try for enough to buy the GN parts car. If you don't need the GN doors for your car, offer them up as incentive for the higher price on this one. Then you will know you can buy your parts car for no money out of pocket and come out smelling like a rose (and a paid-for one at that). However, this is a leveraged deal so make sure you can still get the GN parts car. Good luck, sounds like a nice opportunity.

If you have money and time to spare...I'd keep it and fix it.
If your priority is something other than turbo buicks then I would turn it for a quick buck. It isn't often that someone is able to do that. The money you make on the T would buy the GN. JMO.

It depends on what your goals are. If you want to have a nice, original example of a Turbo T around then keep it. Otherwise take the $ (whether it's $1,100 or more) and focus on your GN. Personally, if I had a wrecked GN sitting in the driveway/garage I'd sell the T for a nice profit and fix my GN for nearly free.
Good luck!

What John Larkin said. Sounds like the perfect solution. The T lives on, your G.N. (which looks sweet on my new calendar by the way) gets repaired, and the parts car continues down the path already started. Besides, your G.N. appears to be REALLY nice, just in need of minor front sheetmetal, and the T, although pretty clean, will be a money pit. Not trying to be negative, but a quality repaint ($3-5000) plus whatever else it may need, and you'd be upside down in it. Ask me how I know..... :zahn:

You asked soooo.............Hmmmm, car looks WAY to nice to part out, or sell outright. It's gonna be a tuff choice. I would keep it, and fix it up. But thats me. All depends I guess on how bad you wanna get that GN fixed up. Good luck.

Do you want to work on these cars or get the GN back to show condition and be done with it all? Remember James, the GN is just a Regal under the paint. Front pieces are around town here, just keep checking Kikers, Hood &sons, etc. The T is a driver, the GN is show and go, locate the pieces over time, use the T hood as a last resort(put a flat one one it later) and paint the GN when you're done.Your garage will be done soon enough, you'll need something to do. Have Dan shoot them both or check Slaughters Reso (the guy that did mine) for a quicky repaint on the T and use it as the strip monster. All just my opinions. What ever you decide, stick with it and don't look back .Call if you need any help. :arco:

Thanks for the replies. I thought long and hard today about it and I decided to make some money and sell it to a guy in my car club. He's has the time I don't have to fix the car, plus I'll be selling him doors off the GN parts car I'm going to go buy. :deal:
I wanted to keep the T so bad, but I felt I made a better decision in the long run. I would have quickly been upside down in it if I kept it.
Don, I know you're dissapointed. Sorry :zahn:

You need some help locating parts? I've scrounged enough boneyards around here! Hoods had a Regal at his home awhile back. Outside of a turbo hood everything else should be easy.

Don,
Shouldn't need anything if I get this car in MS. If that doesn't work then I'll definitely let ya know!
Thanks!
