lol...I know who is ****ed up and who is not... if I built a 10 sec 1/4 mile car...i know I would make sure it was a ten sec car by driving the DAMN 10 seconds down the 1/4 strip!!!....but there are those, and I quote their homepage: "*****'s" who seem to be pretty ****ed up.... and dont race the 1/4 with their 10 sec blue t-types with firebird spoiler, and sound deadened door panels..... hahahahahahahaha :arco:
Thanks Jim, for the comforting words of admiration! I know where you live!!!! :add_schac :elefant: :yessir:
BE4U- Thanks for the props!!!

That is cool. I had been wanting to try something like that on one of the GN kits I have waiting to be built. I was going to try and make a mini version of my T-Type out of it.
But I have t-tops, and I know that's going to be a chore to get that to turn out. Thinking of maybe just adding some coutour to the roof to recreate the trim around the roof panels, and then just painting what would be the glass panels, black like tinted glass. I dunno.
Thanks for sharing your work though. Lets me know that recreating a hot-air setup can be done. :top:
If anyone could figure out how to make ttops I'd love to hear about it. About 15 years ago I tried. This is what I did. Made a stencil and used an exacto knife to mark the roof. I slipped and mad an ugly gouge...tried to sand it out...HA! Nooo way. The best way to cut the plastic is to break the very tip off the exacto and scratch backwards. Works like a charm! File the edges of the roof where you cut off. Get a nice long piece of the plastic parts tree and make it nice and round, sand it flat. glue it underside the roof so only a little shows to support the ttop glass.
Here starts the problem. Making the glass. I was young and dumb so my attempts didnt work. I used the windshield of another model, tried to form a glue strip...neither turned out to good.
Heres a model I did a couple of years ago. Cloth seats, Opened trunk, full size spare, carpeted trunk and a little engine detail. I'm not done with it. I gave up when I ruined the paint.
Other GN models I've done had ground effects, WORKING hydrolics (still have this car and it still works!!!), Opening doors, working brake lights, big tires, and one mad scientist project.

damn. I want my trunk to work!!! How did you do a trunk??? My car is a hard top (my real 84 t-type), so I kept it original!!! lol. My next effort is to get some hot air 1984 finned rims!!! lol. I am thinking of finding a chevy II or maybe an S-10 model pickup and "Turbo 6" it! That would look sweet!.... They need to make syclone or typhoon models!

The trunk has a grove around it. Cut around the trunk backwards with the exacto blade facing away from you. Thats the best way. Then use the plastic parts tree and cut a section off...sand it flat, heat it, bend it, test fit it, glue it together.
You can do the same to the doors, You'll need to get some model puddy to fill in the door jams. I never succeded attaching the doors but now that I think about it I have an idea.

an Idea??? Do share!!!
John
Hard to explaine, instead of using the tree to make hangers I could cut a piece about an inch long and glue it to the door and then to the inside. Maybe sand it like a triangle for a better fit. The problem with the hangers is that they were hard to make, fit and they just dont work too good.

Damn, that is awsome. I am thinking about going that route, when I have the time!!! I would love to take a couple of these models and just build an awesomely detailed car. We'll see though... I got plenty of time in the future!! and it is a hell of a lot cheaper than getting the real car finished!!!

to do list:
buy three more models of 1987 GN
buy three model cement packs
buy a ton of paints and tiny brushes
make a GN model look better than my real GN!
John
Heres an update...RacemyBuick, you got me messin' with my modle again. I'm restoring my latest model. The paint was bad messed up...I used the wrong clear coat and it left bubbles. I made opening doors this time and I'm going to do other stuff. I removed everything off the body for re-paint. See the white aroung the inside of the door jams? Thats putty. I'm even going to make strikers and stickers for the jams.

I did up a GN model to look Identical to my old 84 T-type."Rest her body,Cause her soul is in my new car."I had to cut her up after the tele pole decided to get in my brothers way at 55 mph.But here it what the car looked like after my wife drove her off a 10 ft cliff. It actually free fell.BEFORE my Bro finished her off.I have yet to see another quite like my old girl.I will try to get pics of the model on here soon.P.S. DON'T LET PEOPLE DRIVE YOUR CAR!LOL!
