It is probably going to be hard to find one that can stand up to the amount of torque the TR makes.

Maybe one from a LT1 camaro, if the bolt pattern is the same?

Well Im running 17lbs,open cat, dual exhuast from the cat back, ported plenum, alky inj and bigger metering rods.I dont know how much horse or tourqe yet but I doubt if it would blow up a 5-spd.I figured I could spool up ALOT faster with a manual as compared to an auto plus it would be LOT'S a FUN!!!!!!!!! :zahn:

A manual tranny wont spool the turbo. Wont even build boost until you load it. How you going to do that?

Wanna see how much boost your turbo will build with a manual tranny, and the clutch pushed in? Put your automatic in neutral, and start building rpm. See any boost yet?

That's the reason manual tranny turbo cars have to have a blow off valve, so that boost isnt lost during shifts (when the load goes away).

Some information on your setup would be helpful. We're not mind readers ;)

Could be any one of a number of things. But we don't know a thing about your car.

What do u need to know?Give me a break,I'm kinda new at this and If I was a Mind Reader or if I was so good at turbo regals such as you're self I wouldn't have to ask these question's nor would their be a site such as this availible. So next time somebody ask's for help be a little more less Smart Ass :albert: and alot more helpful that's what would make this website no.

It wasn't meant to be smartass at all. If it was you'd have seen this

instead of this ;) (means I was making a joke).

You're obviously far too sensative, so I'll leave this thread to others.

Doh! That didn't work out well. Morepwr, I think you're right. We help each other, and that does make this site one of the best. But I really don't think TurboDave was trying to be a smartass. It really sounds like he was offering his service and advice.

Taking things with a grain of salt would really go a long way in getting the help you want. A lot of people have been reading this thread, but showing everyone that you're going to get upset with someone joking around a bit with you is really going to turn people away from help. Especially since I know there are many people on this board with lots of experience with the carb'd turbo cars. (I don't put myself into this equation).

Find out what you've got. Figure out what speed you want to go. Figure out how much money you want to spend and how crazy of mods do you want to do. It may be a lot more simple then swapping out for a manual tranny. If you're not sure what you've got. Take pics and post 'em. Ask others who can see what you've got. Good places to start. Also, the Beforeblack site may have some information that will be useful.

Good luck and lighten up a bit. You'll get it going. Just don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Now that is F'N FUNNY!

My car is a 5 speed and it will make 20psi in .5 of a second, requires some creative programming, it will work!

A T5 out of a V8 Camaro will work, with a BOP bell housing. You will still have to find a clutch, flywheel, linkage, pedals, shifter, etc. Instead of going to all the bother, why not get a higher stall torque converter. It will be cheaper in the long run, and definitely get you out of the hole faster and help the spool. If you still want shift get a manual valve body for the tranny. ;)

Well I do take alot of thing's with a grain of salt but I know RUDE when I see it and out of all the post's that I have asked ques He's the only one with a :rotflmao: :tuschel: for a personality.I just thought because my car is so slow at the starting line if I had a manual it would get to the the low end ALOT faster then the auto.I didn't need the Inquisistion. I have an 81 regal turbo sport on a beer budget. If you read my beginning of this post you will see what I have done to this car to make it into the 12's if even possible with out using Nitro.I havent heard of any carbed turbo car's going into the 13's let alone 12s.It would probably be a first :anbet: ? All your'e Ideas and help are Greatly,Greatly apreciated to me. :applaus: :anbet: Thanx alot guy's :beerglass :jean:
