Check outthe wh1 gallery here (jsmanufacturing.com) under the sub-albums. This is a test car for a modified hotair intake system using 86-87 parts to intercool the hotair motor. This thing is a true bolt-on. complete pricing is around $1350, but if you shop around for a deal on the used 86-87 parts it can be done for the $1200 cost of the now unavailable spearco kit.

Here is a photo of the kit installed on the prototype car. It hasn't been powdercoated yet, but you get the idea.http://s94691562.onlinehome.us/albums/hotair/abi.sized.jpg

Here is a photo of the kit with the improved intake and relocated TB, set-up to remain hotair but get the benefit of the relocated TB, and the reworkd intake, which outflows teh stock 86-87 unit without any port work...so if it were gasket matched and had a mild port job would flow incredibly well.

I've been following the progress you guys have made, and I must say it looks great! I have a feeling that your setup is gonna blow the spearco way out of the water anyway, both in terms of driveability and power, especially because of that intake. Nice job. :arco:

Thanks for the kudos.

If the #1 test car is any indication this thing is truly unbelievable! 10 psi, and the car soars. Now that the i/c is on I think its time to up the anti to 15psi. Once we get the boost table up to 15, and the tuning situated, we're off to the dyno and probably the track. One kit has been shipped for use with a front mount, I believe a ta 49, and bigger injectors obviously. I can't wait to hear back from him.

Next Friday we should be doing an install on a stock setup with an 87 ecm and trying some off the shelf chips...should be interesting.

I can't say enough how hard the car pulls on the top end. i have driven quite a few hotairs and they all tended to be slugs in the upper rpm/mph, but this thing pulls as hard at 80 as it does at 40.

Put an electric fan on the back of the IC and spray a little alky on the front. That will make a killer Intercooler Sprayer Kit!!

We actually had a bung welded in the original up-pipe for meth, but didn't want to leave it in for the pics...too many questions about the kit already. Didn't want to add to the confusion. If you like alky, try meth (100%) we ran 27psi on a bone stock Syclone with only 2 degrees of nknock using methanol. All I can say about the 20psi boost launch with AWD is

If only I had one more hot air GN or T.... And $1400... I would compare the two in mods and cost for each. I am doing a total build on my current hot air, and that is going to cost near 5000 including a transmission. AS per your kit, I would still go larger turbo, injectors and cam, and prolly be at the same cost, but maybe....just maybe...Faster?????!!!!! I'll let you know in a year or so when I have the $$$ to get this idea in motion!

Just want to see if there is any interest, but:

I promised my stepdaughter I would meet her and her new boyfriend at the local dragstrip next Test and Tune. And I was thinking if there was interest and people wanted to show up I could probably persuade Jeff to make the trip up here to show off the installed kit. I am thinking I may even be able to convince him to get tuning so we can run the thing on 15 psi for a track run or two. No promises there, but he did say if a few of you were to show up, he'd likely bring the car.
