I ran my best mph and my second best ET today. Best run was 7.47 (2d best) @ 96.59 (best) with a lousy 60'. Only problem is I am very inconsistent. Other runs today ranged from 8.634 @ 92.91 with 2.612 60' to 7.796 @ 93.99 with 1.954 60'. Extremely frustrating. I can't build boost at the line because brakes won't hold more than 2# boost.
I was running 93 + denatured at 26# boost. O2's were 790s and EGT was 1607. I had 3.9* knock at lock up. Combo is in signature.
And acording to the conversion chart your in the high 11's??? :arco:

Looks like you upped the boost. That is good. I am sure that if you ran 30 psig boost that you will get to 100 in the 1/8.
A lot of times, track prep makes cars inconsistent.
Looks like it might be time for some upgrades to get you the ability to get more boost on the line. If you could get say 10 psig on the line, I would not doubt that you could cut some really low 7s.
Keep up the killer times in the mean while!!

Whoa, 30# and 100 mph! That would be nice but I don't think I can do that using my single nozzle alcohol. I still have my original headgaskets plus I don't want to be a member of the DOTC club. :) I am pleased with the mph but I really would like to improve the 60' times and get consistent ETs.
What do you suggest when you say: "Looks like it might be time for some upgrades to get you the ability to get more boost on the line."
Thanks for the comments.

That is only 3 more MPH based on your best MPH so far. I think that more boost and some killer tuning would get you there. Longevity for the engine is going to be compromised though.
Either a transbrake (most expensive), bigger brake clinders etc.
There is another kit, but I am not sure who makes it, that allows you to bias the force of the brakes to the rear so that you can get more holding power, which will allow you to get more boost on launch.
Do you have the upgraded wheel cylinders and better shoes? Many people run 2 of the rear shoes on each side, but I have found that if you get semi-metallic, or even metallic brakes, it should do just as well.
I wanna see some 100s out of that turbo in the 1/8.......

That's a tall order for a 61 IMO. As far as I know, even Mike Price who ran 10.8's in the 1/4 with a stock longblock was still a hair under 100 mph in the 1/8th.
I am still a hair under that with my 45A and built motor and 124+ mph in the 1/4. If my car would've hooked I would've ben even lower mph.
I'm not saying it can't be done but it's sure not the the right combo to do it consistently (at elast without breaking something)
Again, just my opinion.

Taffy--I am pleased with the mid-90s mph, so I don't think I will try for 100. I just want to get better 60'/ET and become consistent.
The other kit you are referring to is probably the brake jumper. It requires cutting your original brake line.
I have S-10 cylinders with soft (organic), OEM, Bendix shoes. I had semi-metallic before and they didn't work any better.
c&cgn---Thanks for the feedback. Don't think I will be trying to go any faster at the expense of an engine rebuild.

That is cool. I am also pretty happy with the performance right now too!

If I went to race gas and a higher timing chip, maybe I could do it. :) Something for me to consider.

Damn! Personally, I think your car is running awesome. The stock heads flow like crap and you are running very strong. Also on pump gas, it's flying. With P&P heads, the car will wake up quite a bit. I'm sure you would get near 100 mph if not over. I'm attacking the bare heads I bought as soon as I can save the money.

Marc87---Thanks for the positive comments. If I ever blow a headgasket (knock on wood) I will get better heads.

You can lower your ETs quite a bit if you can get a good 60 foot time.
A transbrake is the way to go, you wont have to worry about holding boost at the line against the brakes.
I suggest you try the HR Parts sway bar if you have the bank. It dropped 2/10ths off of my 60 foot times and the car leaves nice and straight, not twisting the body as is it gets out of the hole.
If you use C16 for fuel you can crank the timing up to 25 or 26 and still be safe. Of course this means you have to be willing to break it to get what you want for a timeslip.

Jim, I did not realize that you had the stock, unported heads. That is seriously some killer MPH for that turbo and stock, unported heads.
I am sure that with some Champion Ported Irons, you are going to get that 100 MPH in the 1/8.
Is the engine the stock, un-rebuilt engine?
If so, that is seriously awesome. Wish I had that kind of luck!! :arco:

Reggie---I may try an ATR rear bar.
Taffy---Stock, except for valve springs.
