I noticed when I hook up my OTC monitor 2000 it raises idle to around 1000 rpm from 700-750 without it hooked up.I "heard" that it put's your computer into diagonistic mode, which fixes timing.I Need to know 'cause I was using it monitor WOT O2 voltage, but if it fixes timing or who knows what else,It might be bad. Please what it the truth to this?

The reason it does that is because in ALDL mode it does set timing and idle at fixed levels. NOT good for racing purposed or any other type of testing we do.
What you need to do is get it into "ROAD MODE".
It's been way too many years since I used one to even try and remember how to get the OTC's into road mode (what you need for realistic testing and racing), but maybe some one else can pipe in here.

I think it's "F1" and "9"?

Mike,

If you have any additional questions on the OTC 2000 let me know. Its the scan tool I use. One suggestion…I would get a Caspers knock gauge becuase it displays in "real time" not every 1.25 like the OTC.
