anyone have a digital boost gauge? its hard to glance at a needle moving around tiny numbers when your going fast.

i saw the ad in GMHTP today and it got me thinking
do they have any accuracy problems? i have a VDO right now, would they display diffrent boosts?

You could buy 3 of the same gauge off the shelf and get 3 different readings.

The digital gauge is as good as the sender/sensor unit, display part is just dummy electronics. Just as the pressure gauges are as good as their mechanical movements and ability to hold calibration.

Look for the accuracy specification for the gauge and it's range.

It's kinda funny to look at different peoples gauges when not running, most will read a pound or two with the engine off.
The boost gauges are really for reference only, they will tell you the same reading each time but 20psi may be anywhere from 18-22psi on a normal gauge.
My AutoMeter gauge reads about 1.5psi with the engine off and the zero mark is about 2psi wide.

Mine works great and is as accurate as Turbo-link with the boost cable, but hard to read. I *think* I got the brighter version, but it's still difficult to see in sunlight. Looks great at night, though.

I have a boost-vac gauge (needle). I've always noticed the same thing with the wide 0 range and the needle being at different places when the engine is not running. I've always chalked this up to normal baro pressure. After all, the only thing we're measuring with boost and vac is the change from atmospheric pressure in the engine. So I could imagine when the engine is off you may get slightly different readings at 0 due to weather fronts and baro changes. Just my theory, but it seems sound.
