Manual steering conversion?

I want to remove the a/c and ps on my 86 GN when I go to the stage 2 motor(maybe even with the stock block motor for now).I saw a kit from flaming river in the summit catalog but it is $500 or so.Have any of you done this with factory parts from the junkyard or parts stores for less $$$? if I have to I can do the kit from summit,but I want to save some $$$ if I can.Thanks guys.

Early S10 manual box.. bolts right in. There are pictures on my web site of mine, somewhere in the section that shows the front suspension work. I think we paid $30 for mine at the U-pullit. :D
