Are headers worth it on a hi 10sec car?

By worth it as in money and time/hassel to change from the stockers.

I Have a line on some used ones, looking for a tenth,maybe?

I know people have went low 10's/hi 9's on the stockers but I don't have that much motor in this car!

I just put ATRs on my car. Previous best was 10.50 @ 127.2. I was only able to take it out once before the track closed for the season. Due to bad 60 foots I didn't pick up any ET but did pick up almost 1 mph. I do think they helped some, and would help even more if I had a bigger turbo. (only a PT-54)

I don't think they are worth it from a performance to dollar standpoint. If you are tired of your stock ones cracking, go with the Poston's. I have yet to see a set of Poston's crack, but a buddy of mine cracked two sets of ATR's in one year (and yes he WAS using the turbo bracket).

Good headers are worth a good tenth BUT a good custom downpipe is even more beneficial.

I remember old numbers of ~~ 10HP for headers & ~~ 18HP for a good 3"+ downpipe. Even more with a turbo dump.

The postons are nice, but I have a set that has cracked just like my stockers did, on the drivers side. They are currently getting drilled and welded...

I already have a 3" THDP so I wouldn't think a custom one would be worth much... or would it? :fragez:

I know a 10th isn't much but once you're in the 10's 1/10th's don't come cheap!

I went 10 teens with the stockers. Now with the addition of an external wastegate w/ home made down pipe and ATR headers i was able to go 9.98 and gain 2.5 mph with a slightly worse 60ft all else being the same.

So 10ths are 10ths , what you have to weigh out is are those gains worth the money....
