your basic stock engine besides the factory unit.

I am getting tired of running the same old 14:00 seconds with my factory turbo. But I don't want to start putting a million parts on either.

What turbo will get me to 12:50 to 13:50 without chaging any of the stock parts before or after the turbo :fragez:

The stock turbo. With slicks and a few mods to free up air-flow you should be able to go 12.50 or a little better on the stock turbo. Next upgrade and using the stock stuff except needing larger injectors is a TA-49/TE-44 that can power you down to the mid/low 11's.

Adj. wastegate, adj FPR, fuel pump & hotwire, PP (optional), Thrasher 100, 108 or one of Eric's chips, some xylene/toluene, K&N stock replacement filter. You're there. Have you made your wastegate adjustable yet?

I Got the test pipe, hotwire, Adjustible FPR, Walboro FP, 100 octaine, KN & Erics chip. My GN still bites. :dong:

That thrasher was to VIOLENT when I tried it.
I don't have the Adjustible WG.

I used to run easy 13.30's with the stock turbo,intercooler,injectors,converter,etc.I would go 13.3 @ 103 w/a 2.0 60ft.
I would leave with maybe 2 or 3 pounds of boost off the line!
Modifications were as follows:Cyclone fuel pump(?),Bosch adj.FPR.,some crappy 3 inch downpipe, test pipe w/cutout,Hooker dual exhaust, pinion snubber and shift kit.Oh yeah 19 pounds of that sweet boost!!!!
With a sticky tire and converter I would've went easily 12.6!!!!

Steve,

You NEED to do the adjustable WG. Otherwise you're just spinning your wheels....... or not. Without it, there's no reason to put 100 octane in it. If Eric's chip is burned for 93 octane, don't waste your money on 100 octane, you won't go any faster. Adjustable wastegate is a basic mod. If you don't want to cut the rod for some reason, look into some of the other boost control alternatives like Grainger valves or BstC or something. Your car won't go any faster without more boost unless there's something wrong with it now. More parts won't help it unless you turn up the boost. How many pounds of boost are you running under WOT? What are your O2's doing? Come on over to the house, we'll crack a couple beers, when we're half in the bag we'll break out the hacksaw and a 1/4-20 die and do it to it. After that you'll never look back. You'll be a boost-a-holic like the rest of us. "Hi, my name is Steve, and I'm a boost-a-holic." "Hi Steve", the group replied.

Hi Gregg. How did you think the track was Friday? I was off .5 from my best. I thought I would at least equal it. Some motorcycle guys said the track was too sticky from the 1/8th on. My mph was off about 1.5 mph too. I thought I saw you run 13.3, was that you or the other guy with the GN (not Steve or Rob)? Al in his TTA was disappointed too. He though for sure he'ld run a mid 12 to only his 13.2.

Hi Mike,

Yeah, that was my second run. 13.32 @ 103.78 MPH. 2.1 60' My first run was my best to date. 12.98 @ 104.22 MPH. 1.9 60' I only got two runs in all night. Very crowded, as you know. I don't think the track could be too sticky. I usually don't think it's sticky enough. :albert: I had a lot of trouble hooking up last time I went so Friday I aired my tires down to 18 psi and let all the air out of the left airbag and went to 7 psi in the right airbag and it seemed to help. I actually sent them an e-mail Friday morning asking them to put VHT down because traction was so crappy during my previous outing. They said "We put VHT down every time we run." Uhhh....OK. Car was pulling pretty good but I had about 5 deg of KR on each run. I didn't make any adjustments. I should have taken out half a turn of boost before my second run. My EGT's were 1579 and 1581 for the two runs. O2's were both .785 mV. Very consistent for the two runs. Next time I'm taking half a day off work. Too much hassle for two runs.

Yea, you have to get teched in earlier. I got 4 runs in but could have got at least 6 in but figured I'ld let it could down some. Went from tech-in to stage to race in 2 minutes after a 30 minute highway ride so there was no cool down time at all.

I usually shoot for 160 - 170 degrees on my Scanmaster coolant temp. Last Friday was easy because it was so cool. The time before it was hot and I hot lapped the car three times. Not good. Going to the line with 190+ showing on the coolant temp. I was hoping to get stopped in the staging lanes to cool down. They just waved me through. Wasted run because I had to get out of the gas because I had so much knock. I think I got 6-8 runs in that night.

Ya, that the temp I shoot for too. Was at about 175 for my 3rd run and 185 for my last. I think I'll put a switch in to turn on the fan manually. That way I know it would be on while idling in the staging lanes (sometimes longer than I want to).

my temp was 179,180,181. I need to get 160 T stat & put in a manual switch to put fan on in lanes.

WTF No more Turbo advice from anyone?

Cheap and easy, Steve. I would recommend getting an aftermarket coolant neck, too. Pretty easy to bend the stock one.

stock turbo will go 12.5s easy (ya 11s to ) ...I'd use a bleed valve to adjust the boost ... I never mess with the wastegate rod (hey I am lazy) .. ummm guy's be careful leavin the fan running in the stagin lanes (dead batteries suck ) what was your mph ???? :joint:

My best mph was 103.8 last October. The other week that we were all there the best I could muster was 101.7. I thought I'ld run the fan while sitting in the staging lanes idling. It never fails that the line I'm in suddenly stops rather than just moving along so the engine stays cooler. Same thing happened all the time with my old T/A. No luck with lines at the grocery store either. Oh well.

My MPH was 96. my 60 foot was 2.00. Bleed valve sound like my cup of tea. LAZY :)
