Okay, so the last owner put the kind of dash mat on that hangs over and covers the front as well. I hate that and am replacing it. The problem is, the velcro tabs that held it onto the front have left these square rubbery glue spots that I need to clean off. They're really stuck on then and somewhat hardened. Does anybody know what to clean these off with that wont deface the numerous surfaces that they're on? I'm particularly concerned with the plaque in front of the passenger (with 'Buick Grand National in the lower right corner) I REALLY don't want that scuffing or discoloring. TIA

Spray some WD40 on it and a rag and it will come off HTH

I didn't know they were secured like that. That sucks, as I was going to purchase a dash mat eventually, I sure don't want to glue/screw anything to my interior pieces.

I just ordered one of those mats :arco: I have another mint dash I may put on later but to cover some flaws this mat is nice. If you want to get the goo off any of the Citrus cleaners will cut through it. I also think soaking it in Windex will do the job just like for window tint.

If that stuff doesn't work you can try holding a cold pack to it. Some adhesives will peel off easily once frozen.

Well, I've hit it with WD-40 and also something similar and the bulk has come off (fortunately with no damage to the dash) but there is still some of it that is so hard that I don't think it's ever coming off. I even used some of that shit that's for loosening up seized bolts and whatnot......

Anyone ever try Goo-Gone? You just don't want something that is too harsh of a solvent or it will screw up the finish on the pieces.

I use "Goof Off" I think that's what you mean? Yellow metal squirt can. Works very good, does not harm or discolor.

I use Goo Gone. It is a citrus-based cleaner and remove adhesives very well. Chris
