OK, how about a real thread for the new board! :albert:

I picked up a 84/85 stock downpipe a while ago. They are very different, but very similiar at the same time. :stupid:

The silver pipe is from the '83. The other with the braided top is an '85:

Basically everything below the braided section is the same. But the tops are very different. They cannot be directly swapped. But the '83's top is less complicated than the '85. Anybody that can make a Hot Air DP should be able to make a '83. We just need to find a vendor willing. I think 2½" is plenty and can still use the stock elbow. I believe a 3" would be overkill and wouldn't work with the stock elbow.

Somebody claimed Keith Mease made them a 3" DP with an integral elbow for an '83 (but they were still waiting for delivery), but I can't figure out how it would bolt up. There are four bolts - one is INSIDE the elbow. Another is so low, I don't think it can be removed with the turbo installed on the engine. :beiss:

Rich,
Do you have a HotAir uppipe? I would like to see those side by side as well.
That's a bit of differnce at the top. I was thinking they would almost be the same expect for the bend to the turbo.

Someone wants to pay for shipping I would give them my stock UP PIPE.....as it has a leak in it. :rockwoot:

Also have a good stock downpipe, if anyone is interested. :elefant:

I bet you could make it work, if you cut the flanges
off the pipes and install the '83 flange on on the '85 pipe
then weld it back together. :albert:
