Posting over here also. This sight will at least allow a realistic picture file size.

Kendall, or whom ever would like to help.

I'm getting ready to order a set of main studs for this block.

The studs that are in the other block are already mounted, and I couldn't turn one out to save my life. It appears they were "glued" in with some type of substance that appears black and hard (not soft like silicone)
Anybody know what that stuff might be???

And also, in looking at Summit's web site there appears to be several choices of part numbers.
One says Stage II 4 bolt mains (without windage tray) (222-5602) $82
The other one, I think says 4 bolt main 231, or something like that. (223-5601) $97
Haven't calles Summit yet to verify if either of these are for splayed bolt setups or not.

Jegs gives an ARP # of 322-5802 for $97
I thought about Jegs (for about 2 seconds) until I saw the prices they're asking http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/img/smilies/eek.gif

I think I just got my own question answered. Seems that research reveals that I probably need ARP part number 322-5802. These are the stud kits for Stg II with splayed bolt patterns (thought they all were).

Jegs $96.99
Summit $89.99

Can anyone with some in depth knowledge of STG II blocks verify?

Also, the black hard glue like substance remains a mystery, to me anyway.

it might be some crap called The Right Stuff, i believe. i saw cal hartline using it once while assembling a motor with a girdle. he says to use it and a girdle will not leak. sounds like that may be what it is b/c it is black too.

Dave,

Ron Fruchey works at ARP. He knows these engines fairly well and can answer your questions. I've measured a couple different blocks for the outside splayed bolt locations/lengths and got varying measurements.

You definitely have 2 unique blocks and I wouldn't count on anything being "Standard Stage 2" (if there is such a thing).

DaveOther than the unique oiling system, motor mount position, they seem in every other respect to be typical On Center STG II design. Oh ya, and they're aluminum ;) (but HEFTY)

OH, almost forgot. ONe other REALLY nice feature. All the head stud holes are blind!!
