I assume (maybe rashly) that given the much greater freedoms on this board, if someone has a beef with a vendor they'll be free to express that as well? Hrm... someone try it and see what happens :popc1:

My thought is that if a person has tried to resolve a situation to the best of their ability through the offending party and has had no resolve of any sort, then venting a warning or complaint here in a reasonable, adult manner would be ok. Even though some boards are more strict than others, everyone wants fair play both ways. There are people in the world who take advantage of the other party in a business deal, both consumers and merchants. I'd hope the Buick community members here can rise above that. In other words, just because you don't get your way doesn't mean you've necessarily been wronged. Trying to gain leverage and status through bashing is childish and immature. Lying is just plain wrong and unacceptable. I hope my words are understood to mean that I am unbiased and only interested in what is ultimately proper. Gee, can I be a moderator now? :add_wegbr

My take of this board is that as long as it is done in an adult manner the thread will remain open for discussion, if it simply turns into a bash fest then it will probably get locked at some point but not deleted.
Think about it this way, if you want the vendors to support this board and it's users then be reasonable with them. They are human (I think) and do make mistakes, but please don't come running and crying here before you even call them. If you have a legit complaint then hopefully this board can be used to help resolve it in the best manner for both sides.
Crybaby's need not post as they will probably end up being the ones bashed :add_shit: :fechten2: :asskickin :shot:
Most likely what will happen is when I see it, Ill lock the thread and ask the vendor if they want to reply. If they don't, I'll unlock it and whatever happens happens. I think it's just fair to give the vendor the chance to handle it on his own first and if they pass up on the option then it's fair game.

Sounds more than fair to me.
I think that is a very good way to handle that situation.

I think its fair. It really doesnt moderate the post per say, just keeps it under control. I think most responsible vendors will handle the problem without it getting out of hand. The irresponsible ones wont and I dont have a lot of sympathy for them.

That's the way I would handle it - makes too much sense. :)

How freaking unique:
A Buick forum of the people, by the people, and for the people.
This will never fly. Without the board "coddling" them the normally protected vendors will be having to hire the New York Crime Syndicate for protection.
It's about time somebody had the gonads to do this. No longer will we, the common ordinary TurboBuick owners have to cower every time we hear the term "paying vendor" mentioned. Simply amazing.
Actually this forum is for the Buick community as a whole, vendors and consumers. I feel like a banner ad does not buy you protection. An ad is an ad, not a bulletproof vest. On the flip side of that, I expect the consumers to use their brain when they post.
However, I know it's easy to get frustrated when you think you're taking it up the backside from a vendor. Our goal is to try to handle the situation fairly for both sides. Even when/if we start charging for banner ads, it is still not a shield of protection for any vendor.

I knew common sense would win out!! Jay let me stand up and give you a round of applause!!

I have never observed any vendor "coddling" or "bashing" on TurboBuicks.com
Maybe I was thinking of a gun or motorcycle forum. Sorry for any confusion that I may have caused.

This site is going to rock because we can speak our minds. :yessir:

True.. and as long as the board receives support from the community, things are going to keep getting better. We are in a unique position to do things that other boards can't. It's just a matter of the motivation to do it.

Since I am a moderator too. I guess I should speak. First Jay and John set the rules not me, I repect thier lead. My only concern with bashing is that we post the FACTS and not the personal or me too, pile on the pack crap that makes those things get out of control. If you have a problem, by all means post it if you cannot get results on your own. Some one will likely lock it up and ask the vendor to respond. If he or she does not shame on them. Lets just try to keep it business though if you really want to reslove it. Most vendors don't have much inspiration to jump in to a viper pit. A lot of common sense on your part and a less "moderating" on our part should get it done with a minimum of drama. Which in the end is what EVERYONE wants.

Since running my own board, I have found out how tough it really is to run a board. Of course I have a bunch of Honda owners terrorizing my board. That is one reason why I respect the Buick crowd so much. :thrashi:
