Hey,
Kind of an audio-newbie question, so go easy on me.
My rice-powered winter beater has a very nice Kenwood Head unit and some nice amps. It sounds pretty nice, and every time I get back in the Buick I am disappointed with the sound.
So, if I stray from the stock look (I have a GM CD player in there) what's a good choice?
I can go DIN size, but don't want something that sticks out...
The DIN-and-a-half units look interesting, any recommendations?
Trunk mounted amps would be ok, but a one-piece solution is preferred (for now).
Anything worth looking at for speakers in the stock size, or do I have to cut metal?
Thanks!!!!!
Bob

I bought a kenwood for my GN, it fits perfect, it dosnt stick out. My speakers are all i nthe stock location (non CS), i just upgraded them. I have 1 amp powering the 4 speakers and 1 amp powering the subs.
I would checkout www.crutchfield.com
They have a converter to tell you exactly what will fit in our cars.
Good luck
I installed the JVC KDLX300 when you turn it off it hides behind a black face.

I have the DIN and a 1/2 Pioneer DEH-P77DH and LOVE it. Pioneer DEH-P77DH (http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-rN34BrrnXBS/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=3&g=52500&I=130DEHP77D&o=m&a=0&cc=01&avf=N)
Nothing looks better in a TR than a DIN & 1/2, and this Pioneer has a TON of features.. They are closing for ~$160.00 on
Ebay (http://search-completed.ebay.com/search/search.dll?GetResult&krd=1&ht=1&sortproperty=metaendsort&query=DEH-P77DH&from=R8&completedonly=1)

First thing I'd do is replace those 4x10's with a set of 6x9's. They make rubber adapters to make it easy, and the sound difference is definitely worth it. The head unit itself I like aside from the lack of a CD player. Apparently there's some kind of later model car that had an AC/Delco cd player that looks like it belongs aside from more modern looking knobs on the front, I think it was in some sort of pontiac something. You can find them on ebay sometimes.

Quick and painless? Throw a powered sub in the trunk and feed it by tapping into the rear speaker wires. Nothing makes a system sound better than some thump. Much more than that you gotta get a little nuts...well, not nuts, but you'll stray from the stock look
