Are these even possible? I know Maculloch and a few others make some stellar HID kits for around 3 bills.....but not sure what our headlight "type" is.

The DOT has made HIDs illegal. All of the distributors that I use no longer carry them. They will get fined big time if caught selling them. I have not heard of anyone getting a ticket for running them though.

Those new Sylvania Silverstars aren't bad. I bought one just to see if they lived up to the hype. Went back and bought the other 3. I don't know how to quantify the difference but there at least as good as the lights on my 99 Silverado now.
Part numbers are Low Beam H4656ST and H4651ST High Beam.

Are they making it illegal on new cars? BMW's and Audis come with Bi-Xenon, (in the case of the new 5 series, they even MOVE with the car! :arco: ). Is there some stipulation with how they are aimed? That bites the DOT is cracking down on headlights!Well, most of my car is technically illegal anyways........sooo, i don't really mind breakin the law :thrashi: .

They may be illegal in California but not in the "real" United States. You can still buy a HID kit at any Checker/Schucks/Kragen (outside of California). They run about $550.

I did the APC diamond cut H-4 headlight upgrade myself. Ran about $150.

Is that HID kit for low and high beams? Thats pretty badass if it is.....a little too pricey for lighting though. How did those H4's work out?

That kit uses a HID for the low beam and an H-1 for the high beam I believe. As for the H-4 conversion, it worked really good. The only problem I had was by hooking up the high beams as h-4's also you don't use the middle connection and you need to build wiring adaptors for the low beam. I got 2 regular 3 prong headlight pigtails, crimped blade connectors on the ends of the wires. Plugged the pigtail onto the h-4 then pushed the blade connectors in to the stock headlight plug, rotating the wires one space clockwise as you are looking at the plug. Otherwise your high beams will be on dim when the low beams are on, and the low beams will be dim when the high beams are on.

I tell ya, I don't think I would do it on my Buick as I don't use it as a daily driver. If I did as some do, I would consider it. I've got Bi-Xenons in the M, had single Xenons in the 330 and there's nothing like it. Mine only move up and down w/road height changes, regular 3 series get the adaptive lighting which moves with the steering wheel, but anyways. They are incredible.
If you've never actually driven a car on a pitch black road with them there's no way to describe how intense and bright they truely are. They cut right through the blackness. With the hi beams on, it's just sick. It was a 700 dollar option but worth it IMO. Like I said, for the Buick, for me, I wouldn't. If I drove it every day it would be an investment I would look into and consider.
There was a kid at the Nats last yr. Won his class (show) Believe it was an 84GN, could have been 85 but his headlights were SUPER bright. I can't remember the conversion kit he used but it was very noticeable. Doesn't Caspers make something I thought they did....

Kirban's had a conversion kit to a bulb style headlight in their catalog but it's not there any more. I was just too cheap to spend the $$'s on that kit, it was around $240 for a set of 2 so about $500 for a complete conversion. It's not listed on the web pages now.
I don't believe HID's are illegal, though it is certainly drawing some criticism in as the issue de jur in the papers and news (I guess they're bored waiting on another firestone). But converting a car that wasn't equipped with HID's over to them go againt DOT regulations.
