With all the buzz about BB turbos, GT this and GTQ that, it's hard to keep with the latest and greatest in turbos.

What is considered the king of "Quick Spool" as the ultimate street turbo? I like having the instant spool that I get from my 49, but was wondering if there is something out there that is going to spool as quick and flow more air?

I would argue a double ball bearing will outspool anything if properly matched to a good converter which would be of lower stall than another turbo without the BB options.

However I would also argue it doesn't necessarily make it the "King" of turbos either, just allows lower converter stall for better overall street manners in MHO.

Spooling is only one factor in going fast. :marchmell

A ball bering version of the TE60 should spool damn fast for a street car, can probably go with the stock converter, and it'll spin like mad. But there are so many options out there and so many applications that it would be impossible to make a definate choice.

Scott, I have an Innovative Dual Watercooled BB and throttle response is amazing. Step on the pedal and you have 20psi.. NOW. Not cheap but technology never is. Good luck :arco:

Where did you get that???

Well... I would like you to think that due to my vast technical knowledge of turbos and turbo theory and given all the data points I formulated in this scientific endeavor that the only logical conclusion is a BB turbo..... or... maybe it came on the car!! Either way it is amazing

But the question still remains, what size turbo is it?? Hell, a water cooled dual BB stock turbo would obviously spool like mad, it would probably reach 20 psi before you even touched the gas :add_wegbr :add_wegbr :add_wegbr

:arco: Well, you're right it is not a large turbo. It is an E-50. You are probably wondering what an E-50 is, and so was I. After some calls to Innovative, I determined it is roughly between a stock unit and a TE44....653 CFM 50lbs per min, 450HP max. Well, it is now at Innovative being upgraded to A GT61. New GT wheel and compressor housing which they say will spec at 855CFM 65lbs min 600+ HP. I will let you Know how this one spools when it returns. KPG
