I recently purchased an 87 GN and it has an aftermarket chip in it. It says green top inj. .203 with some symbol
and what I am assuming is 25 degrees at ( again another mark I cannot identify) then RPM.

What does all this tell me?

Previous owner claimed 13.1 @ 103mph. Runs real strong.
I am trying to see what the car has before I go "POP"!

Can you post a pic of it? It is burned for green tops, which are 30# injectors I believe, basically stock replacements.

Why do think it is a 25 degree chip? That is quite a bit of timing. It would require alky injection or 100 octane gas to run that much timing without knock

I'll see if I can get a pic of it this weekend, if I get a day off! The symbol after the 25 is up to the right and up at about 2o'clock, and appears to be small and circular in shape.

Do you have any device to monitor knock retard? If it is a 25degree chip it will be knocking pretty good on 93 octane, especially on top end.

If you need to drive it a temporary solution would be to get a Thrasher 92 chip. They are only $25 and your car is close to stock so it would probably work pretty well.

Nope, no knock retard. I am trying to play it safe here, I just got the car and want it to last. Fuel pump used to be inadequate & I changed to WBGSS340M.

Where do I get the Thrasher 92 chip?

I am taking the previous owner at his word of his best run at 13.1 @103mph.

Will the Thrasher chip allow a similar run?

I am trying to pin down details before trouble hits.

What are you using to monitor knock? If the car is not knocking on regular premium gas you may not need another chip

There is nothing on the car as far as I know to monitor knock. The only real driving I have had on the car is on the way home for 400 miles, messing around a little. I didn't hear any knock under fulll throttle, but that means squat!

Do not drive the car again with that chip until you get a scan tool, period. You have no clue what is going on inside there. Pray that the previous owner didnt drive around on a 25 degree chip on pump gas eating away at your headgaskets.
If you dont want to shell out $250 for a Scanmaster, at least get a knock gauge from Caspers electronics or Postons
