I am completely pumped and can't wait to hit the track this year. I just picked it up this weekend after trading a guy in New York my 1800 mile 2003 Cobra (see Fords can be useful). The guy finished the car and NEVER even drove it out of the garage! The motor has less than 30 minutes run time and no miles. The guy did a fantastic job, everything is neat and nothing hacked. The car was a mint 34k GN that still wears the factory paint other than the fiberglass hood and bumpers. Even now that I have it home I still can't find anything wrong with it or that I don't like about it. It is the first Stage 2 car I've lloked at that was built exactly the way I would've done it (except for the BOV). I look forward to seeing many of you this year I plan to be at Norwalk, the NATS, the Salem Event and possibly US41. I still have all the bugs to work out with tuning and I have to update the roll cage and suspenion but I should have it done by Norwalk.

Chris,
That is one nice ride.
Look into the 25.5 spec for the roll cage.
It will allow you to weigh up to 3600lbs and go to 7.49.
Please pick up a aftermarket sway bar or you will feal like this.

The Wolfe has worked very well for us.

That's next weekend for the cage update and sway bar. I don't want to go any further than it alreay is at this time. If run a few 8 sec passes I will be happy. I'm looking to race 4 events (3 Buick 1 NSCA) this year and the rest of the time putting the car around on the street.

Looks good Larry, I'm in a frantic search this morning to buy a new trailer so I can get me car to the chassis shop today. (my old one was stolen). I found a nice deal on a 2003 Haulmark but I don't think I can tow it with my Grand Cherokee so it looks like I will have another open for at least thsi year. I'm having the cage finished and soem other stuff done. I already have Paul's sway bar for the rear. What did you do with your sunvisors? I have a friend who needs a set from a t-top car. Let me know if you want to sell them.

I love to see pics of other peoples projects and I'm sure I'm not the only one so here goes.
I got the car back from the chassis shop and I'm really pleased. The bar was mild steel and not moly, but the 6-point that was in there was very nicely done. I hope to get it certified after the NATS.
I had the QA-1 coil overs installed on the rear and the adjustable coil over on the front. I also installed a set of wilwood's and the UB machine upper control arms. My chassis guy fabed a nice set of suspension limiters so the arms don't smack the frame. I was also able to adjust the ride hieght and get the nose out of the clouds. Checkout the before and after pics.
I also installed the MSD and had Kevin at BFH make a shifter cover and switch panel. The trans brake and two step are now also wired.
Right now I need to align the front end, replace the fornt wheel studs with 3", swap out the 90* fittings for straight on the brake calipers and find an oil leak and fix it. I still need a tach and shift light biut I have a complete GNX style dash I may install. Any good ideas on where to put a shift light?

How fast do you want to go with the car?
The NHRA Certifications change next year.
Did I mention that was a nice looking car? :anbet:

Chris, looks good! Is that going to be enough tire under the rear of that thing? :) I like the way it sits...

I'ld like to see it dip into the mid/high 8's but would be happy running 9.00-9 teens. I really don't want to go much faster than that without some serious suspension and bodywork. It is still a street car and with the QA-1 stuff and Pauls swaybar the suspension is really street friendly. We'll have to see how it does on the track. The rear coilover variable rate springs are nice but I will probably go to a linear rate. I'm waiting to see how the car is now and to get it on wheel scales before making anymore changes.
I know about the certification and if I have it done this year I'm good to 7.50 for the next 3 years.
Thanks
Chris

Thanks Kendall. That is the 28x10.5 tire off my old TSS car. If you look in the one pic you can see the Phoenix 28.5x10.5 tires sitting there. When I picked the car up in NY the guy really had never had the car out of the garage and when we rolled it out the one slick got sliced up pretty good. It's a shame because they were brand new, hopefully I will be able to order just one. I had my chassis guy trim the lips and Pauls sway bar helped with the body roll but the tires still rub some on the inside. I have to get in there and see if the backspace is correct and do a little extra massaging of the frame rail. I'm also planning to buy new rims as I'm not a big fan of the polished Autodrags.
The QA-1 stuff is nice and allows me to adjust the ride hieght to whatever I need. They are really nice for the street and super easy to adjust. I got a good hook up on these from a guy I found on e-bay.
www.paradiseracing.com. He is legit and good to deal with. I saved about $200 on what I would've spent with Summit or Jegs. His name is Luis and if you call him tell him I gave you his name. He also has REALLY good prices on the innovative boost controllers.

Couple of questions. What BS do you end up with to get that tire in there? Also how much of the inner rail did you end up cutting out?
I like the front suspension set up. Who's coil over kit is that? What did you do for a master cylinder and proportioning valve?
Check out the suspension limiters I had made. Did you end up doing anything? I got the UB arms but if I was having a set made I would've put a bump stop across the center like the hotchkiss arms.
Car looks good are you going to have it out this year? I'm still curious to see how that oil pump works out.

Chris,
The backspacing is 5.5..the frame rail is completely gone except for the inner rail. I am still having clearance problems with the ride height set where I want it. :( I have one side that is about 1/2" inboard of the other..so typical on these cars. The guy who's going to paint it is going to try to stretch the 1/4 outward; if that fails I'm going to sawzall it and put the GNX flares on. :)
The coilovers came from my friend Warren, who also coined the SecondHand Six name..very apropos. :) I think they are the predecessor to the QA1s. Those bump limiters look good! In fact, I saw your pics and was talking to my friend Tracy (the car's at his shop to plumb the IC and turbos) and we're going to do something similar.
I am working on the car quite a bit..I hope it's not too much longer before it's ready to run. I am coming to the Nats, car or no car. :)

I measured the BS on mine yesterday and came up with a 5". My outer rail is gone but the top and bottom of the inner are still there. I could go further but would need a mini tub at that point. I would love to run the W's but not sure if it is worth all the extra work when I think I can get it done with the Phoenix 28.5x10.5. That tire is considerably bigger than the MT 28x10.5, check out the pic. I got the tires fitted in there ncely I ended up having to take more material out of the rear side of the rail.
I'm sure I'll see you at BG but you should consider making the trip for the BPG event in August. The track and hotel are 15 minutes from my house and it shoudl be a good time with a lot of racing.
