When I bought my T-Type a few months back, the trans had a nasty 2-3 slip, so with the car came a new (reman) 200-4R. This was a GM rebuild, never run, with AC delco stickers and stuff on it. Also was given an Art Carr shift kit. Last weekend I finally put it up on the bench and pulled the pan to start putting the shift kit in.
As I went through the shift kit instructions, I found that basically ALL of the stuff in the shift kit had already been done - the plate between the valve body already drilled, springs and check balls missing where indicated. Only real difference was that the hole in the accumulator was completely plugged, whereas the shift kit indicates to drill larger to accomodate a cup plug with 1/32" hole in it. My accumulator is drilled, threaded, and plugged.
So I figured that maybe these mods were part of an updated build/rebuild process at GM.
BTW, in addition to the AC Delco sticker the trans also had some letters marked real big on the top of the case, but I can't remember what they are.
Anyone else know anything about this, like basic 200-4R perf. mods being adopted into the standard GM trans build process?
Thanks,
