85 Turbo advice Help needed

Hello,

I am new to this board and read many of your posts regarding 84/85' turbos. I have a 85 GN that is bone stock that had the unfortunate turbo Oil leak. I am looking to replace my stock one and was thinking of upgrading to the TA-33 because that seems to be the only option.

Question is.. Is this my only option? I don't want to change the Up and down pipes. would like the stock location without major work, or should I just stick with stock turbo. I do have a 3" fiberglass cowl hood on car turbo stays nice and cool and has plenty of room. My car is not a race car just a cruiser I may be forced to sell it because I have been layed off from work.

I have someone who is willing to sell good stock turbo from 84 that has been sitting for some time for $80 should I go for it?? or is there another cost effective(cheap way) for me.

I would say if you dont even know if you are going to keep it, I would definatly buy a used turbo then. No sense putting money into something and not getting your money out of it that you just put into it.
